A/C not working. Piece of tape on the front of car said "convert to R134 with Ester". Not sure who Ester is but obviously she didn't do a good job!hehe---So I do a search under A/C and read all sorts of scary things. Lots of focus on the front fans. Went to O'Rilly's and looked at all sorts of A/C stuff. Decided to bring it to a buddy's shop. He hooks up the low and high pressure to his tester and the HiPres valve connector is finger tight!? His test shows some pressure still there so he evacuates the system then pulls a vacuum test and the system is tight. So he adds some "Ester Oil" and then recharges the system and the vents are blowing 44 degrees. Then when trying to remove the Hi Press connector to that valve, the valve pops off and we both get sprayed with that Ester Oil yellow-green crap that stinks like hell. So we order a new valve fitting and wait---two hours later, the little kit shows up, we re-do the evacuate, re-oil and recharge--the car now blows 39degrees with both front fans working as designed. Bottom line, a $3.50 part and some knowledge fixes what could have been BIG BUCKS. WHEW!!!:biggrin::biggrin:
