Guys I will be at lagune seca with skip barber next month, I am assuming that I should stay at a Monterey hotel. Does anyone have any recommendations as to where to stay and what to do? I will be there 3 days.

Thanks.

Depends on the amenities you like. In 1999, NSXPO was at Embassy Suites.

Most of us stay at one of the motels on Fremont street - we have stayed many times at Best Western De Azna; they offer AAA discount too. Since most likely you will be in a rental I presume, parking is not an issue.

Occasionally we have stayed in Salinas - primarily because we had some coming with large trailers.

Now if you want to splurge a bit, try Carmel; there are a few nice intimate small hotels - like the one Doris Day has.

well I am going with a guy friend so I don't need anything romantic... lol... is there any nightlife at all in Monterey? What is on Fremont street? I'd like to at least relax and get a beer after the full day of driving.

I just did the Skip Barber class and they have a few recommended hotels. The instructors stay at the Bay Park Hotel. This is a low budget hotel and I don't recommend it. Look into a few of the others. This is a tourist place so there are plenty of really nice hotels for any range of budget.

The are also many very nice places to eat but maybe someone local can give a good recommendation.

Have a great time.

If it's your first time, you must visit Cannery Row

Quite a selection of eateries. But if you like Italian, I recommend Joe Rombi's restuarant on Pacific Grove. Joe has hosted us several times as part of TrackMasters or our own NSXCA car club; he is a racer too. I recommend you make a reservation though

Fremont street is the main street where most of the motels are. Only 10 minutes away from Laguna Seca.

Try the Hilton garden inn. Nice, not expensive and has a great bar. Restaurant isn't bad either.
