Various organizations hold driver's schools, also known as "HPDE" (high performance driver education) events, at racetracks. These include "marque clubs" such as
BMW CCA, which has the most extensive track program nationwide without requiring you to own/drive their marque, and for-profit groups like
TrackTime,
Skip Barber, etc. And the NSX Club of America holds its annual all-NSX track event at
NSXPO 2004 this October - highly recommended for any NSX driver who is interested in taking his NSX out on the track in a non-competitive, controlled environment.

We live in Minnesota and are aware of Brainard International Raceway.... but we are looking at some other tracks in the midwest (or further out).
It makes sense to start at tracks close to home. Various chapters of BMW CCA hold driver's schools at Brainerd, Mid-America Motorplex (near Omaha), Road America (north of Milwaukee), and most of the other tracks around the Midwest.

What kind of fees do these places charge?
Events held by the marque clubs such as BMW CCA generally cost $250-450 to register for a two-day weekend. This includes the instruction (an instructor who rides in your passenger seat and provides advice), as well as classroom sessions in between your track sessions. On top of that, you will be paying for your meals, gas, lodging, brake pad usage, etc. Events held by for-profit groups are significantly more expensive.
