I am looking to buy an OEM ACURA clutch kit for my NSX. I know they run about 1k but anybody have any suggestions on where to buy?

thanks.

It depends on where it's being installed.

Members of the NSX Club of America get great prices on parts from dealers that offer discounts to club members, like Niello (Sacramento) and Goodson (Dallas).

However, many dealers do not like to install parts that are purchased elsewhere, so you might need to buy it at the dealer that will be installing it.

Try "Southland or Sutherland Clutch" in Nationity in San Diego. Call 411 and ask for their phone number. They rebuilt clutches for all high-end cars (two new discs.) I am very happy with their products.

I am not getting it installed at the dealer - the labor rate is way to high. NSX/MR2 how much did you pay for the clutch rebuilt kit - just wondering if you don't mind. did u do the install if not how much was that?

thanks everyone.

Just be careful where you take it. Installation of an NSX clutch is not a straightforward operation and is not easy for a do-it-yourselfer. While any competent mechanic may be able to figure it out, the clutch initialization procedure is not the same as other cars and it's easy to mess up (as indicated in reports here on NSXprime). The only person (dealer or otherwise) I want installing a clutch in my NSX is someone who has done it numerous times in the past, often enough to know the tricks and "gotchas" in the process. Otherwise, the additional time you pay for someone's learning curve may more than offset any difference in hourly rates.

Around 650-700 bucks for the rebuilt kit with new throw-out bearing and two new discs. No, I didn't do the install myself, but have someone else, a personal, do it for me for like another 400-500 bucks. Well worth it in my opinion because the clutch grabs and engages like crazy.

very nice people
excellent service
super fast shipping!

I second that! Tim Poliniak runs the show at HondacuraWorld.com. I wound up speaking with him for a half hour about NSXs. He knows Larry Bastanza and BarnMan quite well and frequents the Prime boards here too. Offers about 25% off list with no tax (only in New York) and free shipping. There's a $4 handling charge per order regardless of order size.

Having ordered two hatch struts, I found one to defective. One side of the hatch glass sags and won't stay up completely. Called up Tim and he's sending a replacement along with a prepaid return package to send the defective one back. Typically, one would have to purchase the replacement, wait for it to arrive, send the defective one back and then wait for a credit on their charge card. Most dealerships won't let a replacement part leave the parts counter without payment unless the defective part is there to be exchanged in person.

Kudos to Tim for excellent service!
