i just got the TYPE R horn button and ring, and i know the longer screws are needed. and the obvious answer is to hit up SOS, which i would. but i have a photoshoot this weekend, and wanted to mount the wheel up today... anyone know a local shop in my area that might carry a few spares?

thanks in advanced guys!

Try a OSH (Orchard supply and hardware) or a Ace/Parker True Value hardware store. The True Value stores carrying a MUCH better selection generally. That's where I get most of my bolts for the nsx, when i want to swap to something stainless and/or allen. Great selection for cheap.

Not exactly in your area but B&B Hardware in Culver City has just about every screw possible. If you go, bring the old one and tell them you need the same size just longer.

thanks... ran to home depot... they didnt have the pan head style socket screws.... so i used differnt style... looks very industrial i guess.... should do it for the shoot now...

thanks again guys!

Daniel, it sounds like you got the hub. When it comes to hardware, as I'm sure you've figured out Home Depot and Lowe's hardware isle sucks. What a freaking mess. The John@Micro official nuts and bolts rule is that by the time you figure in gas, time, dealing with crappy selections often with limited crappy grades and almost never any metric stuff, not to mention marginal service and often high prices with sales tax... it is a losing proposition to spend your evenings or late nights driving around trying to find quality hardware locally.

The quick way to get those black metric steering wheel flat allen screws is to check around your area for a specialty fastener supply, go to a real home grown hardware store with a real hardware isle, or simply order what you need online. I believe with the Taitec hub I used 1.5" or so, longer than what they sent with it to get a more secure mount with my R horn trim ring.

My advice long term, is to pick-up a fastener ruler so you can determine the pitch and length and work yourself into the habbit of ordering everything you need online in advance via the internet. You can even print one out here. In the short term for your car show as temporary solution, just back them out, then hit the heads with some flat spray or touch-up paint out of the car.

Do you know if the Honda Type R horn button and trim ring fit the smaller Momo Team steering wheel? The wheel is 280 or 300. I am afraid the trim ring may be too big for the wheel. Has anyone tried this combination before?

Most aftermarket horn buttons are universal, it should work.

OK, thanks. What is the trim ring made out of, plastic or metal? Am I going to crack it if I smack the hron too hard?
