Does anyone know where I can get two tires in that size? My order fell through on my rears, so I only have the fronts. As you know that tire has been discontinued so its hard to find many sizes. Or, I have the option of 265/35/18 or 285/30/18. What do you guys think?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris,

TheTire Rack has S-02s in 275/40/18. I don't know what type of aftermarket wheels you are running but if they are lightweight forged aluminum, then running a low profile such as a 30 will increase the possibility of bending a wheel.

With that in mind, the tire rack also has some 265/35/18s which would work very well IMHO. Adding more rear tire width increase rotational mass and will affect your speedometer slightly.

But a question I have that may assist you in choosing a tire is how do you plan on using these tires? Would these be your track tires as well as your street tires or are these strictly for summer street driving?

What size are your fronts? What size (width) are your rear wheels?

I used 265/35-18 so2's and was absolutely 100% happy, in conjunction with both 215/40-17 and 225/35-17.

Dont buy 275/40-18's.

Thanks all for your responses. I ordered 265/35/18's . Thanks Justin. I saw the pics on your car and it looked good. Justin, didn't you jsut sell your car? I have 215/40/17 up front on 17x8 Volk GT-P's. The rears are 18x10. I will use them mostly for street with some possible track time. Icouldn't find 275/35/18 anywhere and I agree, that the 285 may be too big. From my many hours searching the archives, I came up with this: 265/35- optimum handling, lighter weight, faster acceleration, slightly stretched loo, less rim protection. 285/30- Heavier, more mass, slower, looks cool. I chose performance over looking cool. But I guess getting new rims/tires is just to look cool anyways, according to most people on the forums. =)

Keep in mind that the 30 is only an aspect ratio and not the actual sidewall height. For example, a wide 30 can be taller than a narrow 50. In this case, the 285/30 is in fact shorter than a 265/35 by a little more than 1/4 inch.
