Is this part really discontinued? Part # 78150-SL0-003. If not, where can I get a replacement?

You can buy a used one, I might even have one.

78150-SL0-J01 for the 1997+

$50 at discount US dealers

I was looking to replace this for a while as my oil now shows 0 and on good day it will go to 1. I replaced the sending unit to SOS then decided to get AEM gauge to confirm and I know I have good oil pressure on idle. Will let everyone know when I get my unit replaced.

Also, could someone please confirm whether or not the "J01" will work on a 95

I am 99.9 % sure it will be fine, although I have not done it. What I looked for was a change in the gauge face/color/needle etc. They are identical. The later years 2002+ IIRC are different.

I have seen Honda do this before, not backdate the parts list for older years, even when they discontinue the original part#.

Just got online ordered canceled because this part is discontinued. It looks like the new part is not available also :( will try different dealer website.

Awesome thanks!

Tragic... I'll keep looking as well, let me know if you run across anything. I'll do the same!

OK, I have installed the 91 gauge into a '97 car and it works, if you look at the faces they are slightly different and I swapped them. So you should be fine using the '97 in the earlier car - no other choice really.

Ok, second attempt. I placed order with www.acuraoemparts.com it went through fine, but so did the other one then after 4h I got email saying order canceled part not available. I hope this new website will have it.
Awesome, I just ordered from the same site. **fingers crossed**

Order Canceled for the second website. Part discontinued :(

But it looks like it might be available for 2004 cluster. Do you think it's compatible with 91?
The part number is different, it's 78150-SL0-A03

It's available, but it has a blue face. :( My gauge is having the same issue and I really wanted to replace it. Now, not sure what to do. Maybe BrianK can take a shot at repairing the originals?

oh, so you mean the new model, it has the same internals just the face is more blue? Does anyone have pictures? In that case to mach it I would get the fuel meter and have blue on each side, if not then maybe the inside can be swapped somehow.

I place the order on the 2004, let's see if that goes through haha..

I think the ideal solution is to swap the guts from the 2004 into the 91 face. But, I have heard pulling the gauge needles is really tricky and it is easy to break the thin copper wire?

It almost feels next to impossible to get those gauges. I just got order update email that even the new ones 2004 are on back order from Honda.

I search a little on prime and removing the needles is very hard to remove with out braking it and if removed correctly there is possibility or need to calibrate it. This is why I would just change the other gauges on right to mach it to avoid removing the needle but if the color stands out too much I'll attempt to at list remove the needle from old one. It does not work anyway so at list I will practice removing it lol.

Does anyone have any experience in removing/replacing the needles in gauge cluster?

Thx,
Dave

If all else fails, there are tools to remove hands from clocks and watches. Those might work on the gauges. Find someone in your area who does clock and watch repairs and might be willing to experiment.

There are a number of companies that do repair and restoration on the small gauges (fuel, oil pressure, etc.) on the instrument cluster. APT (Gaugeguys.com) claim to repair Nippon Denso and Nippon Seiki gauges. I have no direct experience with them ( I had used somebody else a number of years ago to do a repair on VDO gauges who does not appear to be in business any more). Type 'auto gauge repair service' into your search engine and you will find a bunch of vendors to pick from. Perhaps check with somebody local who is involved in auto restoration and they may be able to line you up with a good vendor.
