Where is the sensor for the drivers door lighting?

Since purchase my nsx always intermittently turned on the lighting when the door is opened. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I realigned the drivers door strike as it was off by some and that seemed to help but not cure the issue. Is the sensor in the door latch itself? Do they often do this when old?
Can someone steer me in the right direction please.

You are correct. It is a micro switch built into the door latch. If you look into the latch, you can see the actuator. In the sections of the service manual covering the lighting system, a lot of the sections are titled switch test / replacement. However, for the door switch, it is just titled switch test with no reference to replacement. I think that means you get to replace the latch if you need to fix the switch!

I have never had to address this problem. I just shoot a little silicon spray in there as a regular preventative maintenance item. Beyond making sure that it is not gummed up with old grease, I think you may have to pull the latch out and if it doesn't yield to a little creative thinking on how to pull the latch apart to access the switch, you may have ante up for a new latch (or just live with it).

Have you downloaded the free shop manual from the Wiki?
Pretty much everything you need to know is in the shop manual.

I have the shop manual on cd. I was thinking of downloading it and uploading it here to share. I'm not sure if I can though. It's a big file.

There are versions to download, with links to the wiki. Unfortunately, the 97-02 version seems to be missing a number of pages. I just bought a paper version because of that.
