since we have had repeated issues (failures) with these items, you may wish to pack an emergency kit of the following:

Ignition Switch - 35130-SL0-A01
Fuel Pump Resistor - 16717-PR7-A01 (1991-96)
Main Relay - 39400-SL0-003 (1991-94)

This will total about $150 or so (NSXCA discount pricing) and IF one of these things fails you could be stuck. All items are easily replaced with hand tools.[/B]

I bought these 3 and was going to be proactive and just change them out (rather then wait for them to go bad).

Can anyone point me in the general direction of where these go and a high level overview of how they go in (if you know)? I did a search on the ignition switch harness and read through 40 threads saying it was easy but couldn't find any details after 1/2 hour of searching. As for the other 2 parts - just a general direction of where they go. I will in return take pics and do a write up and post it back to prime and the FAQs.

No Manual Nick? With as many home projects as you entertain? Shame on you! ;)

Just type "page number" [enter] in the field at the bottom that says page 1 of 1420.

Hey guys - thanks for the help.

I do have the manual but if you don't know what you are looking for it can be a real challenge finding it. I went through the stearing section and couldn't identify the ignition harness part on my own. I searched the online version but there are 1 million hits for the ignition switch (every troubleshooting area tells you to turn it off and on)

I guess I was just lazy! Thanks for your help - additional comments, tips, locations, pictures are welcome and always appreciated...

Heck Nick, maybe if no one helps you, you'll be able to write one of your entertaining (humorous) DIY stories:D :D :D

I was just busting you on the manual thing - pretty much knew you had one.

The ign switch is in the electrical section
(didn't bother with a picture of where the ign. sw. is located - figured you could find that one!)

The resistor & relay are in the fuel section, although I think they may also be in the electrical section.

Thanks everyone!!! I will keep my promise and write something up with pictures. I was going to put all 3 in the glove box for when one failed and thought - that's stupid - why not just replace them after 13 years and keep the old ones as spares!

Anyway thank you one and all!!!

OK - replaced everything today but the ignition switch. Couldn't see where it went or what I had to get off the car to put it on. I saw a lot of connectors - but not the brown one.

What has to come off the car? Where abouts it this bugger?

Thanks!

Hi Nick,

You will need to pull off the lower bolster under the steering wheel. Remove the two or three phillips screws under the leather bolster, the it will pull off. It is on two clips. The ignition switch is mounted with two small phillips screws, you will need a stubby:).

The wiring is sheathed and taped to another wire trunk, so you will need a small knife to cut the tape , then unplug the ignition switch. Actually very easy. Once you get as good look at it, it will be clear.

HTH,

Put me down for another Main Relay failure. Thanks for providing the part numbers and descriptions, just fixed it an hour ago. Car starts fine! :)

my parts came in today so i went ahead and replaced the main relay & the fuel pump resistor. I'll keep you guys posted to see if that fixes my sporadic startup prob.

When removing the long strip across the back glass i noticed one of the plastic snaps were missing, does anyone know the part number for those things?

well my sporadic startup problem happened again today. Its been about 3 weeks since i installed a new fuel pump resistor and main relay so i guess the ignition switch is next.

Before I replace my ignition switch, is there anything else that can be checked? i read in one of the threads about jiggling the ignition switch while starting it up to see if that does anything and there is no change while trying that. It almost seems like its not getting any fuel while trying to start up. I probably shouldn't do this but twice when its happened, i tapped the gas pedal and it starts on up when i do that.
