When was the design of the HSC penned?

I don't think this topic has ever come up...

It's been over 3.5 years since we first saw the HSC in October 2003. At the time, it sure looked liked fresh design, but when do you think it was designed? Was it already over half a decade old back in 2003 (and a decade old now)?

It's obvious many elements in the JV-X (not to mention the color) carried over to the VV concept (which was productionalized as the Insight), as well as the 2006 GRX, but it sure looks most of the stuff from the A-pillar back ended up in the HSC - 6 years later! The distinctive B-pillar with small window, wrap-around rear window, cutoff rear edges, rear valance, center exhaust, etc. are all in the HSC.

I found it interesting since I thought the HSC looked completely new in 2003.
 
I really liked the distinctive b-pillar and wrap-around rear window. Truly unique, and should be reconsidered using that same design if they decide to make the new NSX.
