Wheels and big brakes?

Hey guys,

I'm in the process of trying to put some custom alcon caliper big brakes on my NSX, and was curious if:

Volk LE37K's give enough clearance for a big brake kit?

I haven't seen anyone with Blitz Technospeed II's, but that was another set of wheels that I was considering getting...any info on those wheels?

any input on what style of wheels I should go for to clear the brakes?

I'm planning on going 18" up front...

my price ceiling is around $2K for wheels alone.

thanks,
Allen

You might want to consider another wheel, at least something other than a two or three piece wheel. I have Blitz Technospeed Z2's on my 3.2TL in 18x8s, and while my contact gave me a very good price, I still paid over $600 per wheel. To get under your ceiling of $2K for wheels alone, you'd need to find a wheel for less than $500 in both the 18 and 19 inch size. (I'm assuming you're going 18/19, and not 18/18.) I can't think of any quality modular wheel that fits that requirement. Additionally, I don't believe Blitz makes the Z2 in a 19 inch size yet.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, Volks don't generally come that cheap either, so you may want to rethink your $ ceiling.

Hope this helps some.

Actually, I have found several suppliers of Volks for $2K shipped.

and as far as the Blitz II's, I have a friend who has only (2) rear 19x10" limited edition anthracite with a polished lip...so all I would need to do is purchase 2 18x8" fronts, if I can find some.

but my primary concern is not the cost (I will go higher if need be), but the fitment of the big brakes.

It totally depends on what brake and what wheels you have. There is no such rule that dictates brake A will fit wheel B to C. The best thing you can do is first build you brake kit then measure the caliper clearance, then go buy wheels that will fit. Or just go with the easy way, buy the already available brake kits out there and buy the wheels recommended by their suppliers.
