I bought a set of wheels that have a 5-114.3/5-100 bolt pattern to them. I had tires mounted also and was all happy. I went to mount them to car and found that they would slide onto the studs but there wasn't any room for the lug nuts to go on. I guess since they are a multi application wheel that it won't work correctly? Or should there be special set of lug nuts that are needed to complete them?
If I choose to return them and buy another set, am I better going with wheels that only have one bolt pattern rather than what I did?
If it's got the right pattern, shouldn't the openings be large enough to allow for the nut and provisions for socket to tighten them?

Are you saying the studs appear to be too short? If so, it could be the aftermarket wheels have an especially thick center section (usually a sign of cost cutting) and maybe longer studs would fix the problem?

Many of the multi pattern wheels do use narrow lug nuts that require a special adapter socket to work.

You need to use the "tuner wheel" lugs such as the Muteki or Mcgard Splinedrive.
Steve

That might be the ticket. My wife bought a set of ICW wheels and she had to get the 'Tuner lug kit' also.
I looked in all the boxed that the wheels came in and there wasn't a kit included. I assumed I didn't need it. However, in hindsight, I guess I do.

You are right on target. I truly hope this fixes my problem.

My Volk GT-C use tuner lugs. OEM lug will definitely not work. Strange that your wheel didnt come with lugs if it requires tuner lugs.

check your hub-centers too on the wheel...

Volk wheels are rare in that they come w/ the car-specific hub-centric rings AND tuner lug-nuts when you buy a set of their wheels.

Tuner lug-nuts can range in cost from $20-$120 for a set of 20. Some common brands are Gorilla, Muteki, Kyokugen, Spoon, Zenki, Buddy Club, Rays (Volk), and Mcgards.
