It's either that or the server is busy.

Hi

My guess is that the server is busy indexing messages like this :)

Regards

Slow even on 256kbps connection. Good because so many NSX fan are reading the forum. Bad if you are on dial up and want to ask important question.

Typical response from a SA-IT person!! :frown:

Yes, unfortunately you're absolutely right.

Even more unfortunate is when users want IT guys to explain the real cause of why the server is busy. Even when explaining the cause in simple English, or telling them what you're doing to find the cause, most users don't have the patience to listen to the explaination... let alone understand all the IT jargon. :(

As a result, sarcasm & humour rules the day with our responses. :D

WE NEED MORE BANDWIDTH or FASTER CPUs!!!!

Can you be a little more specific about what problem you are having? Bandwidth and CPUs are two totally different things. The site is very fast for me with the exception of creating new threads, which is a vbulletin database issue I need to look into sometime - when vbulletin sites get large you need to change some settings to optimize certain database functions. Other than that it performs very well when I'm using it, and I access it the same as any other user.

Not sure...

In the past two weeks (thereabouts...), I've also experienced this. Whenever I click on "New Posts" or particular thread from the listing of New Posts or in a forum, I get the message: "Server is busy" (often repeatedly even if I refresh the window or relaunch the browser). It'll last anywhere from few minutes to a hour or so.

I've never seen that. Next time it happens, and once you can get back on, post the time it happened (and your time zone) and I'll check the log files to see what's up at those times.

Also there is a difference between the "new posts" thing, which runs a search, and just getting the main forums index to load. Are you saying you get the same error when trying to do either one?

Yes, trying to do anything forum related (search for new posts, go to a link to a thread from a email notification from Prime, or go in from the main NSXPrime.com page) results with the sponsor banners coming up but the main box in the middle of the page says the server is busy and to try again in a few minutes. It last happened to me on Friday afternoon around 3-5 Eastern time.

Sorry - they are two different things and I was frustrated when I wrote the post. Bandwidth is not an issue on my side. Getting the "Server is Busy" message continually over the course of twenty to thirty minutes is extremely frustrating. Especially, when I come on Prime to break up the day or when I need a break from work. Thanks
