So, I have about $200 bucks available to buy some tools so I can work on the NSX. Just normal stuff like oil, brakes, interior stuff... I have crappy tools right now that are close to worthless. I want to buy a tool "set" so I can have almost everything I need in one box and pick up the odds and ends I need as I go. Any suggestions? Thanks!

if you ever want to change the brakelines

You need a flare nut wrench ... I learnt it in an expensive way...

also, good jack and jack stands;

Torque wrench;

Impact driver with good bit... I drilled all my rotor screws head out since my impact driver had crappy bit, results: stripped screws with screwed up bits and a lot of swearing..

those small flash lights with super bright LED's... I found them handy for a lot of use...

Craftsman makes a good (not GREAT but sufficient for the hobbyist) set of mechanics starter kits. You might want to be more specific with the type of tools needed.

Snap-On torque wrenches are the only way to go IMO.
It's a waste of many to get anything else.

There was a breakage test performed about six months ago by one of the consumer products magazines. It tested all the major brands. Guess what brand came out on top in almost all tests. Husky. Meaning you can go to your local Home Depot and buy some of the highest quality tools available, and at a fraction of the cost of all the others.

99.99% of the bolts on the NSX take 10mm, 12mm, 14mm or 17mm sizes. That’s it. The only 8mm bolts are the ones that hold the decorative injector cover plate. You don’t need to waste money on buying other sizes because you’ll never need them to work on the NSX (although they will come in handy when working on other things)

Combination Wrench Sizes: 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm

1/2" breaker bar
1/2" ratchet
3/8" ratchet

all sockets should be 6-pt.

1/2" sockets 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm, 19mm for lug nut
3/8" deep-well sockets 10mm, 12mm
3/8” regular sockets 8mm, 10mm, 14mm

various ½” socket extension from 3” up to 12” including wobble extensions
various 3/8 socket extensions from 3” to 6”

5/8” or 16mm sparkplug wrench

Vice grips, channel locks, diagonal pliers, multi-screwdriver
Parts tray
Metric Allen wrench set

Good luck and welcome to the DIY club!!!

Just to put everything in the order I needed them (I just went through this a few months ago)

1 - Floor jack and jack stands. You're not fixing much of anything without them.

2 - What Dano said. Remember cheap tools break, I've ripped up sockets on my NSX. I'd investigate what Elite said about Husky.

If you have money left over...

3 - Torque wrench

4 - One of those LED flashlights that can go on your head leaving your hands free.

And do go to Dano's page (www.danoland.com) and take a look around, it has way more than just tools!
