It had to be done. Some previous owner of my car wrapped mine in some awful felty fabric and about half of the clips on all the rear firewall panels in my car are broken so I said screw it and ordered a full new rear interior from the dealer.

You can make one with 1/8 hardboard, thin foam and some black naughahyde.
If you remove the pass side unit you'll see how to construct it and fasten the clips.
Not as good as the oem part but not $216 either and you don't see it a lot
