What jack stands are you using with your NSX?

Just trying to see what kind of jack stands everyone is using with their NSX. I checked at Sears, but the stands didn't seem to be a good fit for the jack points.

I saw some at Harbor Freight, but don't know much about them. Griot's garage has some nice ones, but, as with most things there, they are expensive.

For now I'm using some old flat ones from the late 70's, but figure it might be time to move up a bit (I'm not a big fan of having the car rock back and forth above me).

I have the Wal-Mart ones...I remove the cradle so the car's jack point sits flush on the jack stand.

I ended up buying 2 different pairs with different heights so I have the best 2 for that car. Sometimes you are at the top of the jack but just between 2 teeth on one set so it is nice to have a slightly different set.

Get yourself a set of chucks and $25 set of ramps too. All invaluable IMO.

I also use the small Wal-Mart jack stands but I use the soles of some old track shoes in the cradle so the jack points on the NSX don't get scratched. I cut the sole of one shoe into four pieces and placed them in the center of the cradle. Works great.

IIRC, there's a link from his web page to that lift. It's around $1600, I think. If I owned my own house (OK, garage), I would already have that. As it is now, I need something a little less permanent (as in I can toss it in the shed out back when I'm done using it).

Ha! I guess it is showing off a bit but there are others on this forum who have way better lifts then this! Actually I posted this picture to show what I think of as top-of-the-line jack stands. This lift is only mid-rise so it lacks lots of the benefits of a two-post high-rise type lift. But, the lift is more convenient than jack stands and WAY safer (in my opinion). There are a couple drawbacks: 1) Cost, around $1,500 delivered. 2) Weight, the lift weighs more than 600lbs. The other thing is (as you can see in the picture) the lift pads are not long enough to accommodate both the front and rear lift points on the NSX. However, the supplied rubber blocks support the NSX nicely on its frame. Here’s a link to the lift: www.bendpak.com/DB-Interfaces/ProductChild/_reports/displayitem.asp?CategoryID=1&SubCategoryID=9&ProductID=45

Happy jacking,

DanO
