Icon?

Where did you see this? On your dashboard? On your computer?

If it was on your dashboard, look in your owner's manual and it should tell you what it is.

My owners manual shows no such indicator on the dash. The only thing that sounds close is the headlight motor button. It's illuminated at night, but I don't think it has an indicator light. Is it possible the night-illumination lamp for this button is going out?

icon...

let me clarify a bit. sorry for the ambiguity.
it is a red light that resembles a headlight. the location of it is on the dash, in the center near the bottom. if it comes on again i will take a picture. as i mentioned, my manuals are with my mechanic right now, otherwise i wouldn't waste anyones time and would look it up myself.
just thought someone might know off of the top of their head.

if memory serves me well, it looked kinda like this...

common sense tells me it is in regards to the retractable light. wether it's the motor, it's stuck, ???

seems to be functioning okay.

When and if the BOOB turns bright red "STOP" !!!
Use an up down motion vs's standard squeezing. LOL :)

I had to MYNSX He He :)

I don't know either but just for fun I'll take a guess. It may relate to popping up the headlights without turning them on, as when you expect freezing rain or snow and don't want them stuck in the down position. But then the question is what gremlin causes it to light randomly.

isnt this the icon with a knob to control to dim and brightness of the interior dash lights?

I don't believe it! A warning lamp I don't the meaning of!!!

I've just come back in, after checking it out. The lamp is at the front of the car symbol, that shows what doors are open.

I couldn't work it out, until a look in the manual says;

"Door and Lamp monitor". I can only guess it tells you when the popup lights don't reach their fully extended position.

Wow!

Edit: Page 38 of the manual, confirms it's for the popup mechanism.

Most cars with pop-up headlights have such a warning light.

It's typically used when snow/ice keep the lights from functioning.

headlight icon

yeah, it may be relating to something obstructing the light. i just re-installed the HIDs and the harness wires are a bit long and i can see them getting in the way. i'll disassemble and redo.

thanks!

On page 39 of my owners manual, there is reference to a small button "headlight motor button" that is used to raise/lower the headlights without turning them on. Its located on the lower left pod, to the left of the knob used to adjust instrument panel brightness.
In addition to "freezing" weather, also useful when washing your car, and you want to clean the bugs off those headlamps.

Yea, that's what I meant but I wasn't sure if there was also a dash light indicating that it was activated.

hmm... just a light indicating that the lights are in an 'up' position without actually being on? that would be great! i never noticed that before and i have had my lights 'up' before. maybe my light is malfunctioning. can anyone verify that this indicator comes on when they pop their lights up?

very much appreciated.
