Allright, there must be a trick to this, went to change the rear pads on my 91 followed the manual instructions everything was straight forward until I went to push the piston back, it was not going to budge, it was not siezed because it would rotate, I even opened up the bleader to releive some pressure no luck. Decieded to put it all back together and do some further investigating as to what is going on, is there some relief valve that needs to be opened? I just cannot bring my self to pay the dealer $400.00 for what I know is a DIY job. But I am missing something somewhere and the manual says nothing about a secret chant

The tool is available at Autozone for free use with a deposit if you buy pads there. Or buy pads and return them after you use the tool on the ones you have.
Then you "owe" them one. Or two.

or just use a big screw driver, chisel, end of a brake pad etc. I was in a hurry and didn't have time to hunt down a tool so I used the end of a brake pad. Slow goin but it worked and took less time than running to the autoparts store.

Is the piston Threaded?

Is there a slight thread on the piston, why can't it be pressed in like most other pistons? It would be great to know why it has to be screwed back in, really curious to understand the engineering
