There is a whole section dedicated to this type of info called the FAQ. In it you'll find all sorts of valuable information about the NSX. The answer to your particular questions can be found in the General Info section of the FAQ.

BTW, Targa is a registered trademark owned by Porsche. A removable "Targa" top is always referred to as a "T" top in any other car including the NSX.

WOW! :eek:

big changes over the years!!! :confused:

As time passes, the desirability of coupes seems to be increasing, and the desirability of t-tops seems to be decreasing. (In my opinion.)

Especially because T-tops were mostly available on the Trans Am and Camaro. :D :wink: :rolleyes:

I've noticed this in certain crowds as well, but I've also noticed in other crowds that they specifically want the 2002+ (which are only T's in USDM). I know plenty of people who only want coupes and others who only want T's. It all depends on want a person wants. I've seen shifts over the years and especially recently, but in both directions... though it seems a lot of the poeple I come in contact with are going to 2002+ more so that those going to coupes. I'm not sure, but it seems to be age related... i.e. older folks desire 2002+ models (but then I'm 50-ish and I would prefer a coupe, yet I own a 2002.

)

USDM:
1991-94 = only coupes (no power steering for manuals)
1995+ = Power steering for all except '99 Zanardi (see below)
1995 = only T's
1996-2001 = mostly T's
2002+ = only T's (exposed headlights, et.al.)
1991-96 = 5-sp manuals (3.0L NA1 for all transmissions)
1997+ = 6-sp manuals, 3.2L (NA2) for manuals only
1991 - 2005 = 3.0L (NA1) for automatics
1999 = limited Zanardi Edition available = NA2, Coupe, manual steering, et.al.

This topic comes up frequently. Coupe is my choice with Manual. I would suggest the manual steering to feel the road. Still handles just as good as P.S. Only drawback is when you try to parallel park in the city. Other than that it's a blast to drive. I used to have a T-top and a convertible sports car and I rarely used either one due to the cold weather along the coast.

I have driven several manual steering NSX's and several power-steering NSX's. I prefer the power steering because it's super easy to drive at slow speeds like maneuvering in small spaces and parallel parking, yet it's complete gone at speeds above 25-35 MPH (don't know what the exact speed is.) The road feel is just as good as a manual steering car at any speed. Plus, I can use a very small diameter steering wheel... one of my very favorite mods. The one draw back is that it adds 32 pounds.

I've owned both and he is correct.

Yup.

Err... no. A "T top" is a specific kind of roof, in which there is a center section that stays in place (with the permanent structure in the shape of the letter "T") and two removable panels on either side of the center section. As DocL mentioned, these were available on the Camaro and Firebird. Also the MR-2, I think.

However, the NSX-T is not a body style. It is a special edition of the NSX that was designed by a famous actor who goes by the name of Ice T or Mr. T, and appears on a television show called "The Law & Order A Team".

Is it 90 more pounds just for PS? I thought Acura claimed 32 pounds difference in the Zanardi info.

The decision is pretty easy:

If you would ever want to take the top off, get the Targa. If you never ever will take it off, then it doesn't matter and a coupe might be a little stiffer on a track.

You are absolutely correct Ken, I don't know what I was thinking there...I've even owned a 300ZX...:redface:
