What is correct way to pull sockets off injectors

Whenever I remove my fuel injectors I've struggled to pull the wiring sockets off the injectors, and I'm wondering if I'm missing something basic.

I've attached a couple of pics of the connectors I mean (but connected to RDX fly leads in these shots).

I usually end up inserting a spike under the wire springs and prising them our far enough to pull the socket off. But this is tricky/difficult and risks them springing off altogether. It just doesn't seem this is the right way to me

Any clues appreciated!

I find it somewhat easy to remove the spring with one of these (the one on the right works the best); you lift one side and then while holding the C spring move around connector towards the other one. Never lost a spring once. Just don't rush.

yeah I have similar tools but it's still a fiddle. I practised a new technique today, pulling the spring partly out on each side and resting the tips on side of socket without removing the spring. It works Ok but is easy to get wrong and have spring snap back into slot and that's when it can become an annoying fiddle.

i'm still hoping there's a better way!

sparky, I believe the method you listed in your second post is similar to what I did recently on mine. Dan-O land's website has some photos & describes the method he used, which is what I did and it worked well, though, I did encounter occasional snap-backs where the clip went back into the locked position.
