What I want from the next NSX.

That's what I want in the NSX - just 1000 lbs lighter, or at least no more than 3200 lbs MAX. The GTR is awesome, I want one in my garage, but at the risk of being a NSX biggot (I am ) the NSX is just in a different class altogether.

If it's not mid-engine and it's not light, it's not comparable to an "NSX"

I want the next NSX to match or beat the performance of GTR. To me that will decided if I buy the NSX or GTR in few years.
If the next NSX had mid engine, 3200lb or less, and GTR's performance, I would buy NSX in a heart beat.

Umm, for 120 G's or whatever is being floated hopefully we are talking about the Ultima, not skyline GTR. Either way, the way I figure it is if it has more than 500rwhp then similar to the Viper or Vette clubs.. their should be plenty of cheap wrecked ones for me to choose in about 2013.

I would only buy it if it had airborne capabilities!

What's wrong? Not buying into the "F-16 inspired" or "Born from Jets" marketing being thrown by auto manufacturers these days? Hey, at least on round 1 Honda got to see both taxi and take off speeds with their all aluminum creation.. likely more than some aviation/aerospace manufacturers can claim.

What I want from the next NSX.

Three words.

IMSA GTP Light.

... with a cup holder.

What will we get?

Not sure where Honda really is in their development cycle... but given the sweeping new efficiency regulations that congress just passed... anyone's guess what impact that may or may not have. Sinking economy, etc...

If we even get one at all, I'd be happy. It's really showing its age.

Driving a bone stock NSX........ like nostalgic. LOL.

You're not kidding. It's costing me more $/yr to mod my old 1991 NSX than it would for me to buy a new one at $120,000. That's not a joke.

So, please make a new one....

Yeah and in the end you're probably not even getting to go all that fast Eric.

You kind of have a clean plate, and NSX Mods aren't probably what you really need. Keep it as a street car, and just do the minimum. Appreciate it for what it is, and stop yourself from trying to buy yourself out of what it is not. The vendors will glady take your money but I suspect you still in the end won't have what you want. Too many cheaper, better options at this point.

Want street fast... you do know what $10,000 in engine bolt-ons will do to a new LS7 engine... forget NSX that will drive even the Porsche turbo crowd to tears (whom regularly do spend 120G's plus mods).

Like I tell everyone, at this point NSX's like many of the iconic import production cars we grew up with are really just labors of love. No different than a Lotus 7 or your dad's project muscle car, all cars have their moment in the sun so to speak. In my eyes the proverbial sun has since set for the NSX, never to rise again (non-withstanding club racing of course... lol.. in which case most other communities will still be screwed for many years to come... lol)

2005 NSX-T at 75 grand.... performance/dollar.... umm, yeah my math is that Rationale stopped being part of that equation many, many years ago.

I'm just gonna turbo my NSX and be happy beating all those cars listed...

but from the OP, all those are unrealistic expectations, especially since the next "NSX" is going to be a front midship "GT" touring car, not a 'racecar for the streets' GTR, Viper, ZO6, etc...

I'm not so much trying to buy myself into something "it is not", but something that looks this good deserves to be faster. Looking back, I should have probably just waited around for a 2005 and called it a day, but since I didn't, I will continue to add bits and pieces until this car can at least hang with some of the more respectable cars out there. I don't need Z06 fast, but regular old vette fast would be nice.
I'm almost done with basic mods (just need a brake kit) then I'll be ready for FI.
This has been a great car to own...I love making it unique...I look forward to maybe even giving it a 2002+ update...this car has become my '69 Camaro....my weekend toy, my money pit. :)

Bolt-on or something more extensive? I'd love to hear what you finally decide on for your engine development program.

Uggh, you are probably right. I suppose in the end we all have to de-tune our expectations a little bit.

That's ok. As long as you are paying there's nothing wrong with being a little anal and having things just the way you want them.

What I want from the next NSX are somethings that the current Honda monkey executives cannot deliver. So I will just continue to drive my awesome NSX daily and look somewhere else.

I already have it planned out. It will be a full motor build. But right now need to make some $ to pay for it...

...also working on developing and testing a product to quicken the steering of the NSX
