I just bought a '94 that needs rear pads. The fronts are 90% good. What pads are good for street use? How do I know if the existing pads are Acura or aftermarket? I don't want to mix front and rear pads. What is a good source for buying break pads?

Aloha,
Steve

There are a lot of good pads for street use. The stock pads are actually very good - good grip, low noise, low dusting. There are many aftermarket choices. Just don't go to your neighborhood auto parts store, which will have pads that fit but that don't have the performance of even the stock pads.

Ask the previous owner. Otherwise, I would assume that they are stock.

For stock pads, as with other stock parts, you can join the NSX Club of America and get great discounts at dealers like Niello (Sacramento) and Goodson (Dallas).

For aftermarket pads, call Andie at Cobalt Friction. He carries a lot of different brands, knows more than anyone about brake pads, has great service and great prices, and he drives an NSX so he can tell you all about what's best for our particular car.

I went with AXXIS pads for the rear. Put them on 3 weeks ago. A little early to tell, but initial impressions are good. The car is my daily driver and i plan to do 3 - 4 track events a year.
