Hey guys, I am having a problem with my digital clock and was wondering if someone could offer some help. The hour digit keeps changing constantly as if I am pressing and holding the button to change it, but I am not. I talked to my mechanic about it and he said it was most likely a bad clock. I bought a new clock and installed it today. Once installed, I set the time and the problem was fixed:smile: . About 10 minutes later, the clock all of a sudden started doing the same thing again and I can’t get it to stop:mad: . I do have to confess one thing though. When the original clock starting messing up, it was right after I changed the battery and accidentally dropped a wrench between the + and – terminals  (yeah, I know it was a stupid mistake but the wrench slipped out of my hand). The car runs fine with no problems anywhere except for the stupid clock. Can anyone shine some light on this subject? Thank you in advance.

Check fuse #33 in main fuse/relay box - I think that is most likely.
If not also, check fuse #29 in same box or fuse #5 in the under-dash fuse panel.

Thank you for your help D'Ecosse. I checked all the fuses and they all look fine. I even replaced fuse #33 just to make sure it was okay. Is there anything else I can check? This problem is small but is driving me crazy! Has anyone else ever had this problem before?

I've seen reports of fuse #33 being loose in the connector prongs - does it feel loose?
If you set it while ignition is on, will it keep time and only go out when you turn key off by any chance? (that would indicate fuse 33)
Also - do your radio station presets 'hold' or do they happen to lose their memory also?

No, the prongs don't feel loose. I can't set the clock with the engine on or off because it constantly circulates through the numbers (hour digit). The circulation makes it impossible to set the clock. As for the radio station, I have no problem with it holding the memory. I really appreciate your help so far D'Ecosse:smile:. Again, if anyone else has any advise or suggestions, I would be more than happy to hear them:smile: .

Are you sure you didn't reinstall the original clock?

I am positive. As I posted earlier, when I installed the new clock, it worked fine for about 10 minutes then started doing the same thing as the old one:confused:  .

Make sure your ground is good, take a voltage measurement between terminal A & C (pages 23-225 of sevice manual) for 12v DC.
Thank you Zennsx. I will test it tomorrow. Anyone else have any ideas?

Make sure your flux capacitor is turned off. :p and don't get up to 88 mph.

(I think D'Ecosse is onto the problem)

was there ever a solution to this issue? mine started doing this out of the blue yesterday. i heard some people bought new clocks and problem was gone. but in this thread he bought a new one and the problem came back :(
