Weight savings and ride height

At the beginning of the season, I lowered my NSX with Koni yellows and Eibach springs. I reduced my wheel gap from about 3 and a bit fingers down to about 2 fingers. It looked good and I was barely scraping when going up my driveway.

I recently did some weight savings: 02+ front conversion, custom fitted ITR front rebar, and rear bumper beam removal. I would estimate about 50-60 lbs savings in the front and about 20 lbs in the rear. The car *looks* a bit higher, and I check my wheel gap and its back close to 3 fingers =(

Is this just illusion/placebo or is the NSX that sensitive to weight?

My car is stock. When I take my spare out, I have more front wheel gap. That would make my answer yes. That is probably why coilovers are so popular...so you can adjust the gaps.

This is a little bit too much. For example: If you throw out 30 kg in the front and are running 3 kg/mm springs (each) the car's new height will be 5 mm higher.
One hint: If I measure I always measure on both side just to prevent a car not sitting on a perfectly flat spot.

Checking the springs rates in the wiki, Eibachs are:

2.75-4.07 kg/mm front
2.45-5.00 kg/mm rear

Since they are progressive,

my fronts are 60lbs = 27.3kg / 2.75 = 9.9mm / 2 = 5mm higher :frown:
and my rears are 20lbs = 9.1kg / 2.45 = 3.7mm / 2 = 1.85 mm higher :frown:
