I returned mine waterproof with liquid rubber, I made photographs to help you, work was made in 1 day, initially, it is necessary well to clean the part postponed, frictions risks to cause stripes…

Here necessary tools for the work of disassembling,
1000640hh4.jpg

Install the lamp of garage to the hook of the closing of the trunk, not to pose it on the carpet (important heat emission!)
1000639or5.jpg

Remove the nuts of the body, it will be useful to remove the tail light without damaging the gaskets foam
1000637ji6.jpg

Remove the small nuts after having unhooked the trimming of the trunk
1000641tv1.jpg

Remove initially the central part without losing small the gaskets! (4)
1000642ao9.jpg

Disconnect the electric systems (large connectors)
1000644rl8.jpg

here is the whole of the bolts, there are 24 of them, (note the meticulousness!!! ).
place a protection in the trunk to avoid losing small bolts (fabric between the carpet and the body)
1000647on7.jpg

here the moment to make leave the blocks, raise the rear fender not to destroy the large gasket foam…

1000646cu1.jpg

Deposit the block tail light and disconnect the small connector (flashing indicator)
1000648bu5.jpg

1000645tb3.jpg

here is the unit, remove the small screws and the plastics black of protections (to make a good work, listen to good CD of Rock'n'roll (Rolling Stones, ACDC, Slade, U2, Clapton… etc!) that helps has to calm the nerves)
1000649nj1.jpg

deposit liquid rubber between the lens part and the block part out of black plastic, it is necessary to make the full rotation and to stop all the holes!
1000652va6.jpg

1000650em8.jpg

to stop all the holes, here also, to make a good work
1000653gy2.jpg

let dry rubber 2 or 3 hours, it will become solid but there remains elastic!
1000654xl8.jpg

1000655wb9.jpg

Go up the plastics black of protection with the small screws, not to force too extremely not to damage threading in the plastic (fragile) here is, work is finished, it does not have there more which the whole has to go up!

To do a clean work, not to put a product on glasses, me, I extend the product with my fingers and I wash them with the paper of kitchen, I makes the same thing when I exceed, I wash glasses directly with the paper of kitchen!

Thanks a bunch for the HOW-TO. I just got new gaskets and a new lens and will be doing this same job in another week or so.

Thank you very much for your nice messages!
If your gasket of origins too old and is crushed, water will continue has to enter your rear light (it will run between the body and the gasket and will enter by the air vents of the lamps) :frown: it is better, to make a good work, to replace the worn gaskets by the new ones before doing this work!
my language is the French, I hope that my English is good for you, I made my possible so that it is clear

Thank you for the great write up/how to. I just add this thread to my favorite for future reference if my tail light ever have mositure in the lens.

To Thunder - you are ridiculously tidy in how you set down the nuts and tools!

Very nice work though. I went through almost the same process not long ago. I did not lift the fender so the large foam gasket was a bit mangled (damaged) upon removal. But all is well and I have dry tail lights!

Afflicted, I cannot translate this continuation of words?!?
Thank you for the compliments  , in fact, to raise the rear fender rather high, I also have currency the 2 other nuts 'bay of the engine " without removing them completely, thus, it is easier to raise the rear fender!
If you do not have liquid rubber, you can make with silicone, but, there is no black silicone!

AWSOME how-to...thanks!!! Your photos and English are fine...even the Geico Caveman could follow your directions!

Thunder - I meant to say that you are very tidy (organized or neat) in how you work. When I remove nuts and bolts I don't set them down as precisely as you!

By the way - in the USA black silicone is available in stores such as Home Depot or Lowes.

Thank you the friends Hofffam, indeed, I am very meticulous person and ordered, but, I made this scene especially for the pics ! I like that the things are clear.
yes PhiAlpha44  , I take part already because I noticed that much NSXMAN had the problem of water in the tailight, I have to change my old men tailight for the new ones (S.O.S), I involved myself on the old men to find the best solution
after several tests, I found the product adapted to the situation and the good method to do the work! if my work could help of friends NSXMAN, I am very happy!
