Ok so I have tried a few different methods for making this stop but none have been successful. everytime I wash my car or have it cleaned water gets in somewhere assuming rear coils and causes an insanely imbarrasing misfire. Does anyone else get this and if so how did you stop it? I tried taping over rwg with blue tape and shoving rags over coils nothing seems to help?!?!

Nuno, did you take any pictures of what you did? I just read all of your posts in the threads you linked to and in one you wrote, "there is a way....but not OEM....now i can empty a big can of water directly on top of rear cylinder head that not even a drop of water get to the bottom of the coils....". That sounds like something I'd like to do as preventative maintenance and pictures would really help!

sorry, i have no pictures... but what i can do is use a old coil as an example of what i did and take pictures...i'll do that next thursday

Well , I too have seen this problem , solved it by a few different methods on different nsx's .

- sealed the coils to the valve covers with soft silicone ( the kind for fish tanks) it is easily removed later ( you can go under water after this)

- sealed the coils with silicone dielectric grease ( works for a while)

- installed new seals on coils ( also not 100% )

Problem is , when removing the engine cover , more water goes in , I have found that placing a large folded beach towel over the rear bank solves it.

Angus advise on the silicon seems the best.

I contacted McDaf of DF about a patented idea I had but they were not interested.

I also use a beach towel when washing the car.

Hi,

i used a large plastic... i think a beach towel would soak up like a sponge...the plastic simple let the water run over it (and the rear bank) and to the ground..
