91 nsx-77k mi. coil from #1 piston corroded on stem. I replaced it 3 mos ago and rechecked it after check engine light went on. I found moisture on coil stem with some rust stains and discovered spark plug cracked. Has anyone experienced this problem? I live in Hilo, Hawaii where it rains a lot. Mahalo

First thing to check is that you do not have the silver coil covers reversed front to rear. The rubber gasket must be on the top of the cover on the intake side of the valve cover. They are also marked inside FR,RR. If they are reversed or the rubber gasket is missing that is the issue.

Thanks LarryB for the reply. I checked the valve covers and sure enough they were reversed. Both of the covers had one gasket on the bottom. I took the front gasket and put it on the rear cover. Now the rear valve cover has a top and bottom gasket. Would that be ok to do and leave the front valve cover with no gaskets? I also noticed that the RR coil packs were in the front and the FRs were in the rear. Does that matter? Thanks again and I hope to hear from you soon. Mahalos

FR vs RR marking is there to make sure that the cover is placed on the right cylinder bank. It's best if BOTH front and rear banks have the gasket in place. You can order the gasket from the dealer if needed. It is inexpensive.

That being said, we have a new coil cover coming out with gaskets on the top and bottom.

take care,

I could not find this product. Did it ever get produced?
