Want to Give an NSX Book - Looking for Ideas

Hi all,

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of getting together with two of our most avid NSX owners. We were on vacation in Louisville, Kentucky. I had spoken over the phone numerous times with John Perkins, who lives nearby. He and his wife Cathy own a pair of his-and-hers NSX's. I had been planning my birthday dinner for this trip. So the four of us all had dinner together, and had a terrific time.

Over dinner, he gave me a copy of the coffee-table book which is the original sales brochure for the NSX, as described in the FAQ, and which looks like this:

Now, as it happens, I already have a copy (maybe two) of this book. So I can spare this new copy.

My question for all of you is: What should I do with the book?

I've come up with a couple of ideas:

1. We could have a contest. Write a post to NSXprime describing why you should be given this book. Talk about the NSX and NSXprime and what they mean to you. The winner wins the book.

2. I could conduct a charity auction here on NSXprime, with the winner receiving the book and the proceeds going to charity. If this sounds good, anyone want to suggest a charity for the donation?

Anybody have any additional suggestions for what I might do with it? What would all of you recommend?

Ken, generous of you to contemplate this. I prefer the auction for charity. My favorites
are Habitat For Humanity, & your local food bank. Let me know how much tickets are.

Why not run a quick poll? I like the charity route. If you go with the charity idea then I'd run a poll on charities. I give to many but being related to cars I'd give to Dare and Madd programs.

That's essentially what I'm already doing.

More ideas for charities?

Should I conduct this as an auction (only the winner pays) or as a raffle (many people pay for a chance to win)?

I suggest the auction route. With the millions of NSX owners out there the odds of winning a raffle would be astronomical.

Or, simply put it on eBay with a note that the proceeds go to charity. I think donating the $30+ it will generate to a local foodbank or shelter would be a good idea. Or, you can even donate it to a worthy cause, like Lud, hehe.

I was going to put mine up on ebay, imagine my surprise when I came accross this thread the same day. Anyway, I was doing some spring cleaning, and I came accross some Acura/NSX related stuff, so I put that up for auction instead. Nice nickel and dime stuff...

Finally my 1st post! I've been observing this board for months and I love the conversations going around here. Anyways...

The charity idea should be a better choice, it shows us NSX owners have good deeds.

P.S. Just played with an E-36 M3 (I know it's not so right) on my way home, too bad he has a speed limiter. 150 mph easily wins.

I think charity is a good idea. I like raffle as opposed to auction.

I do not want to start a charity argument, but I would suggest something less controversial than DARE or MADD... Perhaps something like Make-A-Wish, Habitat as mentioned by NSXLNT, or whatever YOUR personal favorite charity is since it is your book!

I have an idea for both of you ......

The NSXCA Sacto Chapter will be hosting an NSX exclusive track event with the sponsorship of Niello Acura this September 3 at Thunderhill Raceway Park in Northern California. This will be our third annual event ........ we often have over 40 NSXs attend such events, and at our last event on 4/23 some 44 NSXs showed up ........ some just to prance around .........

We would gladly accept this as a raffle donation where the proceeds help us put more track events, and now we are eyeing a Laguna Seca and Sears Point events ......

As nice as track events are - they really only benefit a small percentage of NSX enthusiasts. I'd rather see any proceeds go to a charity or benefitting the whole community.
