Any VW fans out there that can help? I've got an 04 Golf. It has the switchblade key with alarm built in. Normally when you lock the car the horn makes a light honk. It has stopped the light honk, yet the alarm and door locks are functional. The horn works on it's own accord as well.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

You can turn on/off the horn feature and also get the security system trouble codes, but you need the 6000 dollar factory tool or a Ross Tech Vag Com.

The Ross Tech Vag Com is 300$ it's a must have for any DIY VW owner.

does your horn work all the time?? (not the alarm signal, but when you push the hornarea on the steering wheel)

VW's are a tad notorious for little problems. My roommate's 99.5 Jetta has had more than it's share. Still good cars, and I'd stil buy one, but a tad annoying :(

It is probably a VW thing. My wife had an 03 Jetta and it had random things like this happen all the time. If it is still under warranty, just take it to the dealer. I don't know if I would buy a VW now that it is a more a Mexico built car than German built car.
I know a friend who had a 1.8t that had the Turbo fail only 1k after the warranty expired and they did not cover it. From what I hear things like this are not all that uncommon on newer VW's. This is a major factor why we traded my wives Jetta 1.8t in for her IS300. It had more little stupid things go wrong with it that were simply annoying.
