I'm looking to buy an NSX and was told that the Vtec Solenoid Gaskets needed to be replaced, after calling a couple of Acura Dealers no one could help me out. Anyone know what I'm looking at to replace one and what is the purpose of a solenoid gasket and is it critical I replace it before I drive around?

Also I need to have the car inspected, any suggestions or should all dealerships have at least one NSX experienced mechanic? How much should an inspection cost? I'd appreciate any help I can get being a rookie to this site. Thanks

I just did this myself at home, easy to do, but hard to reach. I did it all from the top of the engine. The gaskets were less than $10 bucks each. There are no moving parts and it's not a big deal if they are leaking a little. I changed them because I didn't want the one or two drops of oil every time I parked it. I don't like my cars to leak at all, but thats just me :D

Remember there are TWO gaskets for each spool valve. One internal to the valve and the large one that connects it to the head.

for 1991-1994:

15825-PR3-005 FILTER, SPOOL VALVE List $15.20
36172-PR3-005 FILTER, SOLENOID List $8.78

Discounts accordingly:):)
