Had the car for 2 days as of yesterday, and I noticed the voltometer was at 14.5. Isn't this really high? Is this normal? Also, when you store your car in the winter, do you really have to disconect the battery before you put a charge on it? I think I read in the manual you had to, but I've never done that on any of my other cars. The battery seems to be in a very inaccessable place!

I don't think the voltmeter in the car is that accurate. If you want to know what your voltage really is, use a real voltmeter. My gauge is pegged high, but the voltage is OK. One of these days I'll replace it. I believe a normal lead battery should read about 13.6 when sitting (engine off), and 14.5-15 while charging (engine running).

Thanks, makes me feel better. I have another question. There is a switch on the drivers door above the 2 window switches that says (ON - MAIN) I think. The manual says nothing about it, what the heck does it do??

That's an easy one. It keeps the electric windows from working for some reason.

Nominal voltage is about 12.6V, but varies slightly with temperature. Anything between 13-15V with the engine running is no cause for alarm.

Mine reads just about 14V and this backed up by my Passport 8500 which can be set to display voltage. The Passport typically shows between 14.3 and 14.7 volts when the car is in motion. It can show as little as 13.5 volts at night with A/C and lights on.

Voltage will be a little high right after the car has been run. This will bleed off to 12.6.

I don't see why you'd have to disconnect the battery.
