I am lucky enough to have qualified for a "educational sales" trip in June to the wonderful city of San Francisco. This city holds a special place for me because 20 years ago I lived and worked in the city for just about a year. It was neat living in a youth hostel and taking the trolly to the financial district every work day. My weekends were filled with trips up or down the coast and everywhere my little trusty BMW 318i would take me.

I spent a lot of time exploring all the city had to offer and being from the NY/NJ area, I loved going to high end restaurants. I'm posting because I'll be staying at the Four Seasons for 4-5 nights and was looking for some recommendations on what to do, what to see, where to dine (dives, dim sum to 5 star) and late night parties or hot spots. Possibly even meet a West Coast memeber or 2.

Thanks!!!

Want to have dinner AND go to a nightclub, but don't want to move in the middle of your evening? Luckily someone has thought to combine the two into a very upscale stablishment: Supperclub

If you like rum or just great cocktails, a personal favorite of mine is the rum bar: Smuggler's Cove

If you like beer, you should definitely do the beer tasting at 21st Amendment

I am sure the Four Seasons has a great bar, but I especially love the bar in the Clift hotel, The Redwood Room:

That's all I can think of off the top of my head... I'll post again if anything else comes to mind. Enjoy your trip! Hope to meet you then.

bng3lrt has given you a laundry list of cool places... I'm guessing there are two or three others worth mentioning ; - )
Send a private message a couple of days before you leave home and maybe we (SF Primers) can work something out.
A post in the "Northwest US Region" - NorCal section -- wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Agreed. Maybe you can get a mod to move this thread.

Any other thoughts on this? I posted in the CA regional and got some good responses but looking for more. Thanks!

If you want, I can try getting you a reservation at one of the top restaurants in SF... Gary Danko.
Normally, it's a month wait, but let me know if this may be of interest for you.
Alternatively, there is Alexander's Steakhouse with the best authentic Kobe beef in the bay area.
I've always enjoyed House of Prime Rib. One of the best bang-for-the-buck for prime rib anywhere.
I can also get you into Ame Restaurant, if you want Italian- and French-inspired cuisine with the Japanese touch. They're usually difficult to get into as well.

Yawwn,
Yes. I would very much like to have a reservation at Gary Danko. I'll PM you.

Can I find a good greasy burger in San Francisco? I remember a place near a pier on the water that was a total dump with awesome burgers. That was a long time ago.
