Visiting NYC for the 1st time-need advice

Where is a good economical place to stay ? I'm traveling solo-I don't need much-only a clean bed in a secure place. I'll be sightseeing most of the time anyway. Manhattan would be nice. Looking to spend around $ 100 per night ( I'll be there during the week ( Tues-Sat ).

The mid-town Hilton is nice, but finding a room for $100 is almost impossible. That is unless you want to stay at a youth hostel. Btw, if you do call Hilton, ask for the "IBM employee discount". :wink:

You may find something cheaper in Queens just over the bridge. In Manhattan it will be tough. Take the subway into the city is an experience too.
