Vin# & color combo

I was just wondering something. What determines the color combo of the cars being built. Such as, from XXXX-XXXX they will be red with a manual, red with auto, etc. Does anybody know?
Also, what year, Vin# and color are you.
Maybe we can find a pattern or something.

Based on the pattern reported by Liteswhatever and Ojas in this topic, it looks like they build 2-6 cars of a given exterior color at a time, then switch to another color for the next 2-6 cars, etc. I'm sure they keep track so the overall totals are balanced among what they expect the demand to be for each of the colors.

Other than the fact that they make 2-6 in a row of the same exterior color, I don't think there's much of a pattern.

And those are the cars for the U.S. market. Presumably they are inter-mixing cars for all markets on the production line, so those 2-6 are out of maybe 4-15 cars in a row of the same color for all markets.
