I've been mostly using only R Compound tires for the past 10 years. I did a track event yesterday at Streets of Willow Springs and didn't have time to mount my NT01 R compounds before attending. Therefore, I dusted off my old NT05 street tires that haven't been used in 3 years and put them on the car. I can't believe how much fun it was driving a looser car. Even though the car was loose, it was easy to catch and correct. I softened my front and rear rebound and compression settings by two clicks which helped a bit. I was surprised on how easy the car was to drive even when it was loose. I'm going to run street tires for a few more events for both entertainment value as well as to hopefully improve my car control.

Nice! That looks like a normal amount of sideways in my car on r comps, ;)
Actually just put in the zanardi rear bar today and fixed the water issues and spool valve. The only thing stopping me from getting back out is a tune. Awesome video looks really fun, we need to get some more chase cam stuff soon.

That's a very nice clip.
You make it look easy to keep up with that Ferrari, especially on street tires.

What kind of steering wheel are you using? I'm still looking for a wheel to replace the big OEM wheel.
With the Recaro PP seats I need to flip up the wheel constantly to get in and out of the car.

funny we all have little superstitions or habits with regular track driving....but what the heck is the little straw-man hanging from rearview...and lol at the painters tape slowly peeling itself off

I suspect your car is too loose. Whenever you trailbrake, coast, drive the car 'on the nose', the car rotates into oversteer. You often pick up maintenance or part-throttle through most of the corner (from turn-in, to track-out) - I suspect because the car rotates into oversteer whenever you're not on the gas.

Because of all of this, I'd suggest making tweaks to reduce oversteer in your setup so you can carry more entry speed, and be off-throttle to allow the car to rotate rather than driving under the limits on entry and getting back to throttle so quickly to settle the rear.

Yes, you are 100% correct. I was running without the gurney flap in this video and just using the Type R wing. With just the Type R wing, I'm always anticipating the oversteer and adjusting throttle accordingly. The gurney flap neutralizes this a bit, but I still need to dial out the oversteer. I'm taking it back in this week for an alignment and will make sure we neutralize it.

Haha! That little guy is a stick figure wearing a sombrero. My toddler wanted me to buy it when we were on vacation in Cancun.

Yes, the OE steering wheel is large (and heavy) and it especially hard to get in and out of with an aftermarket seat. I am using a Sparco L360 wheel with a quick release hub so I can take it off easily getting in/out of the car. http://www.sparcousa.com/product/l360

I need to get the Zanardi rear bar as well. Let me know when you are up and running and when you are going out again.
