I've taken some small video clips with my digi-photo, bad resolution but the sound is it worth anyway (Comptech :D). I'd like to cut them and make my number plate invisible. Can anybody recommend a easy/cheap software to edit mpeg on a windows pc?

Thanks in advance,
Thomas

editing .mpeg files as is dosen't tend to work very well. They're heavily compressed.
I'd convert to uncompressed .avi's or quicktimes, then use the tracker/paint tool in Adobe After Effects to remove the plate numbers. Then, you could edit them together in any package you want.

Thanks very much for your response.
The Adobe is quite expensive as I've seen. What is the difference between 7.0 and 5.5 whereas I could get the later from ebay? :)

Pinnacle Studio is really good for what you get. It comes with a capture card for downloading digital video from your DVcam to your PC, and has some nifty software too. I showed it to a friend who's a successful director/editor, and he liked it a lot. From never seeing it before, it took him about an hour to splice together a short clip from a bunch of vacation clips I shot.
