Very Strange

Gee. Baltimore seems like a great place to live and raise the kids...
 
What shocks me is that these criminals are obviously very smart to pull this off without getting caught, but they are so desperate for cash that they must take huge risks for such a small cash payout. :(

Exactly, what i cant understand is why they are not going to work a proper job for a few hours, that way they prolly make the same amount, and dont have any risk.

I had burglars comming into my company building a few times, and all they did was set me back a few thousand quid on damage to the doors and such, and take worth a few tenners of stuff with them.
If they would have worked those few hours, they prolly would have had more.
 
Awhile back I knew the owner of about 3 different "Putt Putt Golf" establishments in Omaha. Over the winter theives took out all of the alluminum railings that formed each hole on the course and sold it all for a some crazy price. I guess at the time the metal price for that kind of scrap had skyrocketed and the guys made off with something like 30,000 for all of the metal they stole.

According to him, the bad thing about the scrap metal business is that its setup for shady business practices. They write checks out to cash and dont keep records of who is selling the material. He even visited a local scrap yard and found about a ton of his metal, but the police couldnt do anything about it because it was sold to the yard legally.

I would think there is a similar practice going on in the above story... Just my thoughts.
 
Its probably the mafia behind it. they have the local police on their payroll, they run the scrap yards, own the light pole business.

On topic, 400watt puts out about 50,000 lumens over a 2X3 grow box, making for about 8.3 thousand lumens per square foot. The optimal range for growing is 7-7.5k lumens. Therefore each light the thieves takes gives them a 6ft^2 of growing. Up here where I am, that will give you 10,000 every three months with a good strain.
Hence, the cops dont want to admit why the poles are really going missing.

I was thinking along the same lines. Maybe they are using them as a decoy to transport drug/contraband or something thru customs.
Or possibly something worse. :frown: The poles could be getting cut down, cut into smaller pieces and are being made into pipe bombs to be shipped around country and detonated in a certain time frame. :eek: :frown:
My goodness, I hope that doesn't come true.

As far as the original topic, I'd generalize it's an inside job. Where you have poverty, crime, violence... not far behind is corruption, graft, and fraudulence.

What's mind-boggling is that a $150 cctv/camera can be setup at various roadway intervals or community locations... :rolleyes:
 
What is mind boggling is that they can spend 150k to put each one up!!! It Is just another fine example of our how our government has gone completely insane!!!..is that 2k to get the pole and install it and 148k to pay the Teamsters to OK it? and a small 50k backpoket rebate payment to the county executive?.... :mad:
