Over the last few weeks or so, it's become rather difficult to simply shift into 3rd gear with the clutch fully depressed. It's like I'm shifting with much friction past several bumps as the shift knob moves past the neutral position and up into 3rd. I have to be really careful or I won't finish the shift before I start coming off the clutch pedal. If I had to give that part of the shift a sound, I'd call it ka-klunk-a.
Question is: Is this just a sign that I need the transaxle oil changed, or is it something worse? Judging by the service manual, it's darned-near impossible to check the transaxle oil level without jacking the car up, which I don't have the equipment to do.
