This just about ends speculation for me.

The next generation will be a VSomething? and front engine vehicle. From 2009 or 10 all GT cars will be FR and this is a mule setup that was on the track. Not giving an opinion just putting this info out there. Enjoy...or Hate...

Looks mostly like different variants of the HSC MR concept. However the mules defenitely look like FR cars. No worries to me, so long as they dont call it a "next gen" NSX im fine with it. Just call it what it is, a NEW sports car.

The NSX started as an MR, so to me the "next gen" should also be an MR. But thats just my logic and I don't work for Honda.

You'll have to forgive ak. He's not too quick on the up-take in addition to being lazy from discovering lunar specimens w/i his nasal cavity.

It's not that I am lazy but rather that my finger is stuck in the nostril area at the moment and can not click on mouse. :D

Not to be an ass, but how do these photos "just about end speculation"?

I don't see anything definitive of the powertrain in those shots.

I see "honda racing" on the door, but I can't read Japanese- does the article state something about these shots being 2nd gen NSX related?

Does the article say something about a V8 as opposed to the V10 that has been talked about for the last 3 years?

if anything- these photos are cause for speculation IMO

OK, so I did a little digging and here's what I found.

The car pictured is a Honda Test Car which complies with 2009 Super GT regulation requirements of 3.4L V8 engine and FR layout.

So there's nothing that confirms this car to be related at all to the next NSX although I wouldn't be surprised if the next NSX is designed in the similar route.

Let's get the facts right first!

That's right my finger is free now.

I dont read Japanese but it looks like on the top part of the right page in yellow letters. I dont know what it says, but a couple of the letters look like an FRxxxxxNSXxxxx.

I stick to my previous post, nice new sports car layout, but not an NSX to me, no matter what people say. Fukui himself can visit me at my house and tell me that its the new NSX, and I'd tell him to lay off the Sake.

The NSX was born as an MR, the next NSX should also be an MR. But that should not stop Honda from making a totally new car with an FR layout.

There was a photo posted yesterday some where, perhaps on Prime showing the R35 GTR JGTC car which look just like this one... See if you guys can find it.

BTW:biggrin: Just annouced this afternoon!!!

Hey, I've been reluctant to post any information about the FR "next NSX" or ASC or whatever you want to call it. I was just as excited back in Dec 2001 at the Osaka Show when I was able to have video and take pictures less than 3 feet from the HSC. Here in Japan, whether you believe what you read or not, the next generation of Japanese Super cars will be based off of an FR V8 or V10?, basically due to the Super GT racing regulations which will be changing in 2009 or 10. GT-R as well unless it will fall in the GT300 class which I have no idea what they will be doing. But also due to the competition. Like all information, until it is made, things could change. And even then, the exact sizes and proportions might still change the following years to improve safety, performance etc.

Not to be an A$$ either but AutoSport is not like the other "scoop" magazines. They mostly deal with GT and F1 related topics. I don't read all of the Japanese either but that still didnt' stop me from enjoying the information trail. ASC->S2000 Mule->More ASC->NSX FR V8 at Motegi See where this is going? No it might not end all speculation but it surely dispells a lot of rumors. The guys at Dome or Honda Racing are building a V8 FR machine to win in 2009 like they did in 2007 and hopefully will do in 2008. Well, the only thing I wonder is how much and can I afford what Honda gives to the public.

I'm really impressed with the amount of information so many people not living in Japan get, but it is not all accurate, especially when you take into consideration the Japanese market and manufacturer mentality. The current offerings that Honda is competing against are the new Jaguar XK, Aston Marton, Gallardo, Porsche, Corvette, and Mercedes CL as well as future Toyota and resurging Mitsubishi. Nissan has made their move, and once the Nur and VSpec comes out then they will move on to the development of their next monster. There are already aftermarket parts for the GT-R! The Toyota Soarer (Lexus SC, also a Super GT car) used to be one but it is a tad outdated and not selling well anymore. I have a client with a Tom's supercharged one that puts down some serious power.

Luxury Sport is where these guys seem to be headed. 100% positive? No. What are my clients buying and driving? The above mentioned luxury sport imports. What are they waiting for? A comparable Japanese car. I have a guy waiting since last spring for a Gran Turismo. He had an NSX too. And he'll buy the next super Honda made for sure. It is a matter of pride. Not for all, but for many, especially the ballers.

The title says V8 GT-NSX at Motegi. That is what the article says and that is what the car is. It is consistent with what I've heard and talked about. For the sake of simplicity some people call it "the next NSX" or "replacement". I was just trying to share, next time I'll let Car and Driver take the heat. Sometimes it dangerous to just come out of your house:cool:

Okay, the images are just a widebody NSX at a track, with no visually remarkable features, other than the Honda logo.

The only unblurred text I could read appears to say:

「FRです。エンジン? それは言えません」

Or, in romaji:

"FR desu. Enjin? Sore wa iemasen"

My japanese is still quite crap, and (Edit:) my original guess was off, but Sorcery says below that this translates roughly to:

"It's FR. Engine? I can't say."

(Thanks for the clarification, Sorcery.)

Very good, but the "FR desu." is a statement, "Engine?" is the question, and "Sore wa iemasen" is the tricky part, directly translated it means "Can not say that" which is the answer to the "Engine?" question. Literally this is the writers way of not commiting to the what type of engine is in the car "I can't/won't say what engine is in the car"

"It's FR. Engine? I can't/won't say what engine is in the car"
(Yes I cheated, I had my wife help me out with the Kanji... )

Which is pretty fair considering he/she probably didn't look under the hood. The above post stated the new rules and it seems these will be for the 2009 season. V8 and FR for all GT cars. This mule could very well have a modified C30 or C32 under the hood mounted FR. I have no idea. And the body is a simple elongated NSX GT carbon body just like their test shells, usually the REAL Team NSX (Rolling Stone on teh side, Red #17) but from the other pics with the car next to the Raybrig GT NSX on the track, this is definitely not the Skyline GTR GT Version (That was at the Tokyo Motorshow, I snapped a couple shots, wicked looking car:wink: ) but also not an ASC or HSC car. There will be more pics soon I assume. The GT test day should be coming up in a couple months, maybe then I'll be able to get some closeup shots in person like last year. These were from a magazine I bought.

But after further thought, I guess this clouds things up a little more, hopefully Honda is not just building a GT car for 2009 based off of the current NSX style and the Legend's V8 engine and still unsure of what they will be doing for the new/follwoing/updated super car of Honda's future.

Thanks, Sorcery. I amended my post.

So are we sure the front is elongated? I wondered briefly, but I thought it was just a side effect of the page being curved.

I'll be really sad if it's FR. I just love the growl of the engine behind my ears, and the cockpit-forward look you get with MR. Ever since I saw that Audi Avus prototype in a commercial, I fell in love with that aggressive look.

Seriously, read my post.

My Japanese is a little rusty but it says as has been posted that the car is new to satisfy the new super gt rules ect.....But it also goes on to say that the car will most certainly be driven to victory in every race by DOCJOHNASHAWN.His supreme victory is assured! PS if you have no idea what I'm typing don't worry, it is for the benefit of a few who do.

I think it is a fake, they just stretched the Arta car in the middle.
