Using oem top hats on kw v3s

So I got my kw coilovers and oem top hats. I understand I need to pull big rubber gasket out of hat and tape the supplied foam gasket straight to the metal on the hat. However, I don't have the gold bump stop washer. Will any washer work here or is the something that might make problems once installed. Thanks

Well, I don't think OEM top hats are that bad, are they? I hear people have noise issues with aftermarket top hats sometimes.

Anyway, I like to think of it another way. All that money is being spent on the damper, the part that actually makes your car handle better.

Some cheap coil over, say Megan Racing for example, you spend $900 and get top mounts. So the damper manufacturing, R & D, (copying), etc is what you are spending like $700 on. In some cases you only get what you pay for.

Why are you using OEM top hats? KW doesn't come with one or something? With the cost of the KW v3s you would think it's the best suspension out there for the NSX Anyways, GL!:smile:

OEM top hats are better than most aftermarket ones. At least you wont have cluking noises like someother ones. Its no big deal, just swap over OEM. Why dont you have the washer? Did you already have other coilovers in there?

BTW, you will love the KW V3's.

yes, I got rid of my oem suspension for full coilovers. So Source1 got me a great price on KWs and had some oem top hats too! Just didnt have bump stop washer for me. I figured it out and cant wait to mount these up in the morning!!!!

I ran into the same problem. My car had another brand of coilovers so I didn't have the oem top hats. I re-used the pillowball mounts, but after a while they began to clunk. I bought some used top hats, but they didn't come with the washers.

I ended up buying KYB shock mounting kits, which were cheaper than buying oem parts.
