I am currently in the market for a used NSX for under $40k. I am in the progress of making to possibly buy a totally garaged stock '92 w/21k miles for $40k, I'm requesting the price to be lowered slightly so the total including registration would be $40k. I also test drove a '92 NSX that was not maintained as well, parked outdoors, but it had performance headers, intake, exhaust, chip, and closer gearing ratio w/33k miles. Since I have not yet driven a stock one, I'm not sure how the two would compare in performance. The modded one had a side-skirt that was apparently glued on, which I did not particularly like. I am in the San Fransisco Bay Area, if anyone has any opinions or recommendations for me, it would
be extremely helpfull. I hope to have the
loan in by early this week.

You didn't provide the price for the 92 NSX so I can't really compare the two. $40K seems a bit high to me though, I bought my 92 NSX, with M's sport bodykit (entire set), M's sport intake, ARC titanium exhaust, SSR 17" front, 18" 3 piece back, with Bridgestone S-02 tires (almost new), adjustable shocks, headers, computer chip, well maintained, excellent condition, at 36K miles, for a grand total of $40 (tax and stuff included). I wouldn't say that I got a "great" deal on the car since I never really looked into an NSX when I was in the market for a new car (was looking for BMW M-3's) so I didn't know the general price I would expect. The car was just too attractive so I went ahead and bought it. I only looked at the car once, purchased it the next day without even test driving it myself (I did ask the owner to test drive since the car was way too low that I didn't want to wreck it and it seemed the car performed rather well) with all the documentaries he kept for his car services, I went ahead to pay him the money and took the car home. Assuming the 92 NSX has the same price, I "think" I would go for it, I can't be certain since I never looked at the car, but according to your describtion, it's got quite a few modifications, and you'll soon see that any NSX parts will cost you probably a good month worth of meal, and those performance mods will probably make up the cost of those maintnance fees needed but were not done to the car. Well, hope this helps, good luck! and welcome to the NSX group :)
