I am considering shipping my 91 NSX with just 27K miles, from the USA to Europe. To meet the European regulations I will need to change the rear light array. I can purchase a European lights crystal with the orange lens for the indicator and I have worked out which bulb holders to use for the mandatory fog lights. The fog lights need to be linked into the headlight power so that they can be used only when the headlights are on (main or dipped beam).
Has anyone done this conversion and can offer advice?

Gordie,
I am wondering to which country exactly you are shipping your NSX.
There are plenty US Acura NSX's driving around in Europe. A lot of them still have the US (lighter) taillamps. And at least in my country, foglights are most definately not mandatory and are in no way wired such that they can only be used in connection with the headlights ??

England first

Hi

The rules in Norway have always been pretty strict. But they are now easier than before.

That means that if the car is road legal for use in USA it is road legal in Norway. There are a few Acura NSX's here in Norway and I do not think they had to do anything special with them.

Ask Adeel he has been through it recently. If you do not have the foglights it does not matter at least not here in Norway.

It is also not allowed to drive with the foglighs and the main lights on at the same time here in Norway.

I do not think you need to do anything with your car to use it in the UK or Spain.

Regards

You would depending on the length of stay in the UK be easier driving it on US plates.

You will have trouble getting the car through UK MOT etc, don't forget we drive on the left :)

However, depending on where in the UK you are considering I have a buddy who has a USDM NSX so he may have some tips for you, I will ask next time I see him.

Thanks Simon,

I currently have a home in the North East of England but ultimately intend relocation to Spain. I have a car there now and am familiar with the new MOT requirements. I think for my USA NXS, with modification of the rear lights and modified headlights to dip to the left, all should be okay. I would appreciate being aware of any other possible issues.
Thanks.

Have you tied to get in touch with one of the companies that specialize in American Imports?

Cheers
