Friends and Customers alike- (sorry f3gd4gr6, this is NOT about the BBSC)
I have recently had a hard time getting Autometer fuel pressure gauges, in the 0 to 100 psi, fully electronic type. This gauge comes in several styles (color combos) as well as short sweep (less expensive) and full sweep (more expensive) If you are not sure which type you have, the short sweep starts (at "0") at about 9:00 and goes to (at 100) about 3:00. The full sweep goes from (at "0") about 7:00 to (at 100) about 5:00. It is ONLY the short sweep gauges involved in the recall. Also, if you still have the box, the short sweep gauge part numbers end in a "9". (e.g. 3309 is a very popular number because the colors match the factory stuff prety closely) Also, if you have the sending unit and black box only and are using a different gauge so that you can not tell if you are affected or not- the recalled sending units are silver in color (SS) and have a gray plastic 3p connector on top. Its the smaller, gold color, cheaper LOOKING sending unit that is the good one.

Autometer dealers are supposed to be contacting their customers, but mine didn';t even know about it- I spent an hour on the phone with Autometer getting this figured out. Anybody who has one of these gauges MUST call Matt at 815 895 8141 to arrange for a replacement. What they are doing is sending the customer the more expensive full sweep version at no cost at all (oooh- a free upgrade) Most of their gauges are available in both modes for most 'design' series. AFAIK, no one is getting labor reimbursed, regardless of how old or new. My opinion is if it is less than a year old, your tech should do it for free same as any other warranty issue. If the gauge was installed by me REGARDLESS of when, I will of course absorb the labor costs of doing this job. No time limit. If someone has a gauge installed by someone else, and they won't warranty the labor, and for some reason you cannot afford the charges right now, I will do the swap myself at no charge.

So- to recap- if you have ANY Autometer fuel pressure gauge, go out and look at it. If you are not sure, or if you need any other help with this, PLEASE CALL. DO NOT ignore the siuation. Or call Matt at AutoMeter.

(will someone please take the time to share this with the other lists- I'm kind of backed up at the moment, time wise.)

Cheers,
Mark Basch

Thanks Mark, I believe the unit I purchased is affected by this.
