I'm having some difficulty figuring out what aftermarket filter system my 93 has. The air cleaner element, which is cylindrical, is located near the side vent. The cleaner, I'd say is 6-7 inches in diameter, 7-8 inches long. I believe the rear wheel has to come off and the fender skirt pulled back to change the filter. Attached to the throttle assembly is large rubber boot and foot long metal pipe extending into side vent and attaching to filter.

Help out there?

It sounds like someone has created their own "cold air" type intake. You should only have to remove the fender liner to access it, but you should clean it often, as this area does get a lot more dirt than having the filter in the engine compartment.
