No, its not my car.....don't worry!

I wouldn't do that to such a fine vehicle. If I ever crash it I'll make sure it burns so there's no evidence!

Hey Meeyatch .. here's your evil twin .. another '91 black snowbound NSX .. and 'no' it's not stuck .. I backed it out after the picture

HAHA!! I love it!! I feel better knowing that I am not the only one who will take the NSX into the snow. :D

Winter tire guys:

when do you switch to your galoshes from the running shoes?

I'm doing the Glen this weekend which will be my second last track day - after that I'm wondering if I need the softer rubber now because of the cold - (I know for a fact that our sport rubber needs 10 degrees C to begin to get (at all) grippy, now you can get this by droping the clutch at 4000 and peeling out of your driveway, but would it be better to swap off to softer compound?

If so which tire?

(this is looking suspiciously like a new thread...)

Hey, I thought this was supposed to be for pictures only. What the heck are people asking questions about tires here. The nerve of some people!

You might want to look at the new Yoko A048. They're available in two compounds; "MH" for mid-to-high temp applications and "M" for low-to-med temps. I rode in an Lotus Exige with a set of these hushpuppies at the last Dexter day (which was a pretty cool day from what I recall) and those babies stuck pretty darn good. The UTQG rating is only 60 so don't expect them to last too long if you intend to commute with them everyday. I'd save them for for those extra cool late fall/early spring track days. You need to read the mfr's instructions carefully - some soft compounds are not recommended for use (or even storage) below -10C. I don't think that's the case with these A048 since they're now OEM tires on some late model cars.

Btw, I've signed up for the TRacQuest event at WGI this weekend so I guess I'll see you there. I'll be easy to spot. Look for the moron shivering to death driving an open-wheeler. If you hear chattering noises in the event by chance I may pass you on the track, don't worry, nothing comes loose in your car - its just my teeth. Should warm up by the Saturday afternoon - I hope.

I've had good luck with Michelin Alpins .. although the rears wore out quickly (less than 20k miles I think). I have them mounted on a second set of rims so I can swap them in my garage in about 20 mins when the first snowflake hits.

Gotta love the Bilsteins!! I have them as well. :)

What sizes are you running for your snow tires?
