Sorry I didn't see this sooner... I just went to Canadian Tire and bought the K&N air filter oil and oil removal kit. I've done the maintenance twice already and it seems to have caught quite a bit of dirt.
The proof will be in the pudding when I get my oil analysis done. I ran all last seaon with a dry Uni filter and my oil analysis came back with higher than normal Silicone levels indicating abnormal amounts of dirt in the oil. It will be interesting to see what the dirt levels are using the K&N oil.
I can't imagine that there will be significant difference between the Uni filter oil, but I'm willing to test that for you next season if you like...
A few posts said that the K&N oil should not be used on a Unifilter.
I broke a few screws removing the airbox cover last night. I think I should replace the whole airbox. The screws broke in the bolts. One of the anchoring bolts is stripped at the bottom of the airbox
Hmmm. According to Unifilter, any oil that is meant for foam air filters can suppliment thier oil. Maybe the K&N are for paper filters rather than foam.
I also have another air filter oil spray from CT that looks like it's for foam filters. Maybe I'll compare that to the K&N and see if there is really a difference.
