Unable to align headlight covers

After removing the headlight covers to install the HID's, I can't seem to be able to align the headlight covers properly in term of having the gaps on both sides (fender & hood) even.

In addition, I also can't make both side of the headlight covers the same way. They aligned differently on both side.

I verified that the HID's don't interfere with the covers at all.

Just wondering if there are any tricks to reinstall them. Thx.

Hi,

Same problem when I installed HIDs, it took me about 4 to 5
tries each to align them almost correctly... :frown:
When the gap was good, they were not aligned with the
hood and when the gap and alignment were good, they
touched the hood when "open"

Even one milimeter adjustment makes a big difference in the
final alignment  but perhaps I'm a bit too maniac

I experience this very problem during my install of CF headlight covers. The CF replacement units looked like a good fit and nice copy. Upon the initial install, all seemed to go well. The gaps looked good. When I opened the headlights, one got jammed in the hood. It returned OK. Whew! I then proceeded to loosen, jiggle, and tighten down the screws again and again. Sometimes it opened fine. Other times one got jammed again.

I went as far as loosening the big bolt that secures the bulb frame assembly onto the car frame. I thought it might have some play in it to shift the entire bulb frame assembly to the outside. I detected no play whatsoever. I resorted to using rubber washers to slightly shift the covers to the outside. It seemed to work, but I dread either light getting stuck upon opening them again.

It's some relief to know this problem was not unique to me.

Not quite sure why. The covers must get distorted once it is removed.

I have spent hours and still can't align the gaps even for both lights. While I am very picky, but I just left it.
