I have really been looking forward to this rematch. Rich Franklin says it's a chance for redemption...I think it's a chance for reconstruction (facial, that is). When asked about fighting in front of Rich's home crowd, Anderson said 'my whole life in fighting is about this. I trained for this moment. I'm a fighter and i'm ready to fight in any situation. It doesn't matter if it is in my backyard or in hell against the devil.' Niiice

Here's the card and my picks.....

Anderson Silva v Rich Franklin 2 (Anderson by basilar skull fracture)
Tim Silva v Brandon Vera ('The Truth' by KTFO)
Yushin Okami v Jason MacDonald (tough call but Jason by sub)
Josh Burkman v Forrest Petz (Burkman)
Eric Schafer v Stephan Bonnar (Bonnar, though he's off the Boldenone)
Jorge Gurgel v Alvin Robinson (Gurgel if he doesn't injure himself)
Alan Belcher v Kalib Starnes (Belcher, he's got good hands)
Jason Black v Matt Grice (don't care but I think old man Black)
Ryan Jensen v Demian Maia (don't care, Jensen I guess)

Not a big fan of Brandon Vera. Like to see him get K.O.
Also like to see what Rich Franklin is really made of. Last fight was embarrassing for him.

Anderson Silva v Rich Franklin 2 (unfortunately Silva by Submission... rd2)
Tim Sylvia v Brandon Vera (Vera TKO rd2)
Yushin Okami v Jason MacDonald (MacDonald by sub, rd2)
Josh Burkman v Forrest Petz (Burkman TKO rd1)
Eric Schafer v Stephan Bonnar (Schafer Split Decision)
Jorge Gurgel v Alvin Robinson (Robinson, sub)
Alan Belcher v Kalib Starnes (Belcher TKO)
Jason Black v Matt Grice (meh...Grice, sub)
Ryan Jensen v Demian Maia ( )

Not a big fan of Brandon Vera. Like to see him get K.O.

Brandon has been one of my Fav's for a while. Sylvia was my favorite HW until he babied the belt. Vera is an incredible Muay Thai fighter, and his stand up is leaps and bounds over Sylvia's. Sylvia will put up a good fight, but he won't be able to get past those knees once Vera gets inside...

Also like to see what Rich Franklin is really made of. Last fight was embarrassing for him.

This will be a true test for Frankilin. I think he knows now that you can't clinch with Silva, and his best bet is GnP, but he has to watch out for the Jiu Jitsu. If Franklin can get the mount... he'll finish him quickly. I think to say that his last fight was embarrasing is a little harsh. It wasn't Franklin at his best, but an embarrasing defeat such as the one at the hands of Anderson Silva is enough to make any fighter a little cautious...

look for my logo "sound solutions" on Alan Belcher.

Heh, that's very cool, the kid has nice standup.

I don't think Rich looked that bad in his last fight against Okami, but not great. Not the guy that beat Evan Tanner down. I've always felt Franklin was a little fragile, he has sustained multiple injuries in his last few fights, always breaking his hands and feet (and, uh, nose). I know it's cruel but I have a side bet w/ someone on whether Beth Franklin will be crying BEFORE or AFTER the fight.

Hopefully we see some good fights tonight. I think we should see some competitive matches. Anyone taking bets on them mentioning Randy tonight and his situation? I think it's doubtful since Dana is said to be pretty pissed about the whole deal. Well, here are my predictions. I think the longer the Franklin/Silva match goes the better off it will be for Rich.

Anderson Silva v Rich Franklin (Going with Franklin on this one, but is a coin flip)
Tim Silvia v Brandon Vera (Vera unless he gets caught with a head kick)
Yushin Okami v Jason MacDonald (Okami - but it's a close call)
Josh Burkman v Forrest Petz (Burkman)
Eric Schafer v Stephan Bonnar (Bonnar)
Jorge Gurgel v Alvin Robinson (Gurgel)
Alan Belcher v Kalib Starnes (Belcher)
Jason Black v Matt Grice (Grice)
Ryan Jensen v Demian Maia (Jensen)

Franklin is gonna be so preoccupied about the clinch that I think he's gonna give up his body. Broken ribs for Franklin, TKO by Silva after dishing out a lot of punishment.

Big Tim will need to keep the distance to have a chance. Vera will look to stay close and it's going to be easier for him to do that than for Tim to stay far. Vera by round 2 TKO.

Is Rich Franklin on drugs or what? The man did not look focused, he was instead focusing on the big screen while fighting. I feel so bad for the guy. Silva totally controlled the action.

As for Vera, he finally got some punishment.

Rich lost the fight before he even got in the ring. He was scared and that first knockdown he was out.

Vera I thought hardly got punished. Tim tried his best but he was sloppy and inaccurate. Broken hand definitely played into it IMO. Vera did nothing except throw a few kicks. They both deserve an L for that snoozefest.

Somebody know where the video for this fight is?

Yeah, agreed. I expected Timmy to make it a boring fight, but Vera seems to have forgotten that his foot wasn't broke...the kicks were hurting Tim and he should have kept firing them off. I didn't think Rich looked particularly scared (he should have been  ), but what I did notice is that they did not show Beth Franklin whatsoever before the fight this time. Anderson was so cool and collected as usual, never seen a fighter enter to 'Ain't No Sunshine.' Did you guys see the beating Belcher put on Kalib? That was a dandy gash, reminded me of Eastman when he fought Vitor...Rogan at the time said he looked like he got hit in the head with an axe  . SNDSOUL I was looking for your logo, couldn't find it man! BTW we were so pumped after watching Anderson that we went out to my yard after the fight and rolled for a bit....my knee is still sore  .

Both and brandon vera is a joke!

Vera broke his left hand in the beginning of the first round, so his game plan went out the window. If you think he's a joke, you should look at his overall record again, then look at his UFC record, then look at the people he's TKO'd in the UFC (to include former HW champ Frank Mir). He had one bad fight... that doesn't make him a joke.

Aha...pretty easy to see the logo now  .

Bob, you found the Eastman pic! Definitely looks like he got hit in the head with an axe. As for Vera...a joke? That's a little excessive, when I hear ppl say things like that I ask them how many times they've stepped in the cage and locked the door behind them. I will go as far as to say that I don't believe he's been completely proven. Yes he beat Mir, but Mir is not Mir anymore unfortunately. Assuerio Silva is a solid former Chute Boxe fighter but not in the upper echelon, Sherner and Whitehead are also not the cream of the crop, and Eilers has faceplanted more times than I can remember. BTW it's debatable whether or not Tim won that fight, I had the 1st rnd a draw, the 2nd for Vera, the 3rd for Silvia. I am positive that the hand was a factor.

BTW guys, they're airing Fedor vs Lindland on Ion TV tonight.

just watched this, i was hoping for franklin to win, but had doubts. He was manhandled again. I would still like to see them go at it one more time. Two classy guys though.

Very hard to see how brandon vera would have done if the hand hadnt broken. he had a few moments for a bit. the kicking as mentioned. Tim getting booed was uncalled for.

That gash on kalib's skull made me wince when the doctor actually OPENED it to have a look.

Gurgel was a mess too. especially after how well he was doing in round 1. Disappointing.

Bring on the bisping/evans? fight. I'd really like rashad to win that one.

I absolutley HATE Rashad Evans (and I don't say that very often). I went to UFN3 (I don't remember who he was fighting) and he was fighting, he had a posse of like 10 guys with him, all of them VERY disrespectful to the crowd, and the other fighters. All of them VERY cocky too, to include Rashad.

It really is kind of a slap in the face to the fans to have this as a main event on this card though. It is basically Zuffa trying to prove that their TUF fighters are the real deal. Unless this card changes drastically, or just gets a decent undercard fight, I won't be ordering this one for the first time in 14 years  !!! What a joke...

Having said that, I think Bisping is going to get pounded. Not saying I don't think Bisping is a good fighter, he's just not a proven fighter like Rashad, and has not had any 'Real' competition in the octagon yet. Bisping has not earned the right, or shown the skill to be in the main event on any UFC PPV card. Nobody I know is excited to see this fight, and everybody I know thinks this main event is a laughable.

this main event is a laughable.

Agreed. We were going to go since it's so close to here, BJ Penn was originally supposed to be on that card. I will not be going now...the UFC aquired Pride so we could see the 'dream matches' and the headliner is Sugar vs The Count? (not to mention Evans was supposed to get an immediate rematch w/ Tito). And yeah, Bisping will probably lose, he's less explosive IMO and is less of a natural athlete, not to mention the lack of quality opposition as you mentioned Bob (no offense Elvis Sinosic  ). He did seem to deal well with the Josh Haynes flailing technique though  .

Aside from that though, 2 of my absolute favourite fighters are set to battle each other...Chris Lytle and Thiago Alves. I think Lytle is very underrated, i'm looking forward to the war and not the outcome. Ryo Chonan also makes his UFC debut against Karo, Gono makes his debut, and Terrell, Houston, Spencer, and Aurelio are on the card. The undercards are fine, the main event is not.

Agreed... there are some good fights on the undercard. But none that I think I would pay $50 to watch on PPV. It's looking more like an "Ultimate Fight Night" Card on Spike TV. Ryo is force to be reckoned with, and I think Karo is good, but over rated. I love to watch Spencer too, so his fight against Edgar should be good (although I give a slight nod to Edgar). Herman (2-2 in the UFC) is just another TUF fighter who's only notable win is over Scott Smith, and it's not even that notable. They need to build Terrell up for a title shot instead of feeding him TUF'ers.

Houston Alexander is another fighter that I absolutely cannot stand, and I think Silva is going to have his hands full. Houston is bad for the sport... period! He is a street thug, who brings it into the ring and he is not respectful to his opponents whatsoever (His last two fights he stood over the unconscious opponents and screamed and thumped his chest). having said that... If Houston walks through Silva, as he has everyone else, then I'm sure they will give him a title shot.

As for Houston Alexander...I don't think of him as a "street thug", I think of him as having 2 different personas! During the fights, he seems to "snap" and become violent and very angry (and stands over his opponents)...then afterward, hugging & even kissing his last opponent on the head; while thanking everyone in his camp, hometown, and the UFC. He just becomes "possessed" during the fight, while having a different demeanor before & after the fight!
As for Anderson Silva's fight; that's the 1st time that I saw someone get 2 knockouts in the same fight. (Rich Franklin was OUT at the end of the 1st and knocked out again in the 2nd). I never realized how fast Silva's hand movements were until that display saturday!
