I am on the west side.
Let's make a move on this one soon since monsoons are right around the corner and time is of the essence.

Saturday sounds good for dinner! I emailed NSXpnsv and rayflores also, so we will see if they reply. I met a female NSXer on this side of town who is not on Prime, but I will call her. Any suggestions on where to go to dinner, as well as time preferences? Thanks.

Anytime late afternoon to night is open for Sandra (my girlfriend) and I. I'll have to brainstorm some options on where to eat. Anyone else with ideas?

Get together

A Tucson get together sounds great. I'm on the Eastside. However, my NSX is in pieces right now. I've only owned it about three weeks. It's super clean but had a few annoying things that needed fixing. So far I've managed to fix my antenna, drivers window, security alarm and while the seats were being reupholstered, I decided to install a new stereo system. If you all decide to go out this Saturday, I should be able to have it back together enough to drive. If not I'll have to join you at a later date (maybe closer to the beginning of August when I get back from white-water rafting.) Looking forward to meeting you all.

Since we have two eastsiders (Nik & NSXpnsv), one westsider (Brickdds) & one northwestsider (us) it would be nice to meet somewhere central so no one has to travel too far. Although Tucson really isn't that big and we'll drive anywhere if there is an opinion on a great spot. Some ideas for a central location would be PF Chang's, Bistro Zin, Sullivan's area. I'd suspect that is probably about 20 minutes max for just about everyone. Other ideas are definitely welcomed, especially if there is a good restaurant with decent parking that you know of. Any time works well for us, so let's see if anyone has any time constraints we need to work around.

NSXpnsv - great to see that you're interested and even if your NSX isn't completely done we'd love to see it or even just meet you if the car can't make it. It'll just be fun to meet other NSX enthusiasts in town.

Hopefully we'll hear from Rayflores too, does anyone know him or met him yet? We left a message for Pamela, the lady up by us who has a red '91 or '92. It should be fun.
:)

I know Rey. Speaking of restaurants, his family owns El Charro; which, by the way, is one of the oldest restaurants in town, and has a live salsa band on Saturday nights as well as a pretty active dance floor. They were featured as part of a History Channel documentary on the origin of foods in America. Supposedly the chimichanga was "invented" when Rey's grandmother unintentionally dropped a burrito into a fryer screaming a mexican expletive which was transformed into the word, chimichanga. The location is Broadway?Wilmot in a strip center on the SE corner of the street. It is an easy drive for the east-siders. I don't mind driving all the way out there. As you said, Tucson ain't that big and next time we could go out west. What does everyone think?
Also, do we have at least an unofficial list of Tucson NSX owners? We should identify ourself and our cars at least as a formality before heading out. I am Greg Kunz and as stated before drive a '94 black/tan. Since I have not seen Rey posting here I will mention that he drives a '93 black/black which was originally owned by Shawn Elliot's wife. So who else is out there?

Greg - That's great to hear that you do know Ray. We did see that his email address and website listed on here were for El Charro and we were going to try and call him today if he hadn't replied to this thread by that time. If you happen to have his home/cell number please feel free to call him to see if he's interested otherwise we'll try him at El Charro. You're right that El Charro is a great spot and it would be a nice place to meet. We'd thought about that but didn't knowwhat parking was like on the eastside spot as we've only been to the downtown site.

Getting to know everyone and an informal list together was the whole idea behind this get together and would be beneficial to all of us as you said. We've been putting a partial list together as we go along but if everyone sends us there info we'll type it up and distribute it on Saturday to have as reference for the future. If you'd like to do this send us an email at [email protected] and include name, phone number, address(?), email address, car info(including mods) and anything else you'd like. Here is what we have so far as far as Tucson NSX'ers go:

Heather & Stephen Woodall (TucAZNSX) - '96-T Red/Black
Nik ? & Sandra ? (nik3sgte) - '91 Red/Black
Greg Kunz (Brickdds) - '94 Black/Tan
? ? (NSXpnsv) - '93 Red/Black
Ray Flores {I assume} (RayFlores) - '93 Black/Black
Pamela ? (not on Prime) - '91 or '92 Red/Black, AT

I also know that Tom Purtzer has a Black '91-'93, or at least did of a few months ago. We could also try contacting him, but I believe he lives down in Green Valley.

Yesterday we called Bruce Whitmer, the NSXCA Secretary, to see who was registered in the Tucson area. Unfortunately the only registered people are Nik, Greg and one other gentleman that doesn't have an NSX apparently (our application is processing now BTW). I'm sure we'll eventually find everyone in town. After going on the Sedona drive with the Phoenix NSX'ers we can say that it is great fun to meet other NSX owners who share a love for the NSX. Kelvin (PHOEN$X) even mentioned that perhaps the next drive could even come down to Tucson so that the Phoenix NSX'ers and the Tucson ones could all get together.

Enough rambling from me for now. El Charro (Eastside) sounds like a great idea though, perhaps around 6:30 on Saturday?

7:30 El Charro sounds good to me. Introduction: My name is Nik and i own a stock (exception updated nsx wheeels) 1991 red/black 5 speed. My girlfriends name is Sandra. I currently am located river and cambell, so PF Changs is about a minute away and i think us as a group parked out front would be very impressive if the El Charro falls through. Hope to meet oyu all soon.

Lets do it.

Works for me. This will be brief so I can get back to work reassembling my NSX. My name is Matt Streeter and I'm on the Northeast. I drive a '93 Red/Black that is mostly stock except for a set of 17/18 BBS wheels that are being installed tomorrow morning. Hopefully they'll look good and they'll stay on. I also e-mailed another Tucson member named Chris (NSXPrime name:CK_SB) and let him know about our plans. Hopefully he'll respond.

I'm not sure who the owner is but i have seen a white nsx-t in the foothills a couple times and driving down swan. I have not seen it lately though, anyone else know of this nsx??

Kelvin - We'd love to have you down if you can ever make any of our get togethers. Anyone from Phoenix is definitely welcome to join us for that matter if they feel up for the drive (except for Bill of course, you know he just gets way too wild :D ) Hope that we can get together soon though Kelvin. Let us know if you guys are doing anything up there. Of course NSXPO will rock and we're already excited about that!

Looking forward to meeting everyone on Saturday, it sounds like we have four cars and at least six people confirmed. Hopefully some of the others can join us too.

So it looks like we will be doing El Charro at 7:30PM. Has anyone made reservations, or has a tally on the confirmed total number coming? Its two for me and one NSX :) Heres the address:

6310 E. Broadway
520-745-1922

Nik - We'll call down to El Charro tomorrow and make a reservation, just wanted to see if anyone else was going to come along. By my count we have Stephen, Heather, Nik, Sandra, Greg & Matt (6 people) and the four cars. Unless Greg or Matt are bringing anyone else along. I called down to try and get in touch with Ray, but haven't heard back from him.

We're looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow at 7:30 at El Charro.

Reservation secured

FYI I made a reservation for 6 at El Charro East for 7:30 p.m. under my name (Dr. Greg Kunz) on behalf of the Tucson branch of the NSXCA. Let's have a great time folks and if possible find an area for a group photo before dinner while it is still light out.

dinner tonight

My family would like to join us for dinner tonight. My wife Carrie and two boys are huge NSX fans. If nine is too many we'll make arrangments for our own table or something. See you there. I'm going to show up a little early so we can take some pics and check out each others NSX's. Hopefully, so will some of you.

Hey Matt - I just called El Charro and updated the reservation to nine people from six, so there should be no problem. The reservation is under "NSX Group" I believe. We'll see you there soon!

Stephen

Get together

Sorry about the no show last night. That storm hit the Eastside hard at about 6:45PM. I lost a tree and barely got the NSX back in the garage before the sand storm hit. Haven't seen wind like that for a while. It even ripped street signs off of the metal posts. I hope none of your NSX's were out in it. If you guys do it again I'll see you next time.

Dinner was fun last night, although it would have been much nicer if it didn't rain on us. Since we live so far north, when we left our house the monsoons had only started to build up near Oracle. As we drove east, the clouds started forming within 10 minutes and unfortunately our NSX saw it's first rain storm ever.
:( Oh well, it was nice to meet everybody and hopefully we will have a get together where we can take some good photos.

Here is a dark group photo.

It was great meeting all of you. Sandra and I enjoyed dinner and coversating about our cars. We look forward to meeting up again. I thought we may get some rain but i didnt think we would get so much at once. A coworker of mine has a little rain gauge and got 1.5 inches (Craycroft and Broadway, close to where we were). The news seemed to quote about a half of an inch for the city. It seemed like we got it all at once and all of the streets this morning were a mess. Steven, im not sure if you had your windows open when we were at swan and grant but when we both accelerated ;) our cars sounded awsome :) Thanks again everyone.
