Hey guys, the extra radiator you gave Ted when he bought Putt-putt came in very handy today. Last night I noticed a small green puddle by Charlotte's right front wheel. Since it's not her time of the month, I was suspicious of this secretion. Popped the bonnet and sure enough there was leakage where the "upper" hose connects to the bottom nipple of the radiator. When I squeezed the hose, I could hear a hissing sound and more greeness started dripping. Since I just had one of the big hoses in the engine bay fail a couple of weeks ago, I had the whole set of main hoses sitting here waiting to get installed next week. Anyway, I replace the supposedly bad hose and after a coolant top off and quick drive what do you know? Same symptom! A quick text message to Ted at 3AM and badda bing he shows up this morning with your beautiful new radiator. Less than 30 minutes later all was good. The front of the old radiator looks like it was used for target practice. Besides a bunch of fins being bent, there were the remains of 40,000 insects, bird bones and a bunch of feathers left over from their disintegration.

Is there a reputable service out there that anyone can recommend that reconditions and repairs these things? At $350 a pop it's probably worth saving.

Glad it came in handy Hugh!! Good to hear that Charlotte is running well again because of the radiator.

I guess 13 years and 163,000 miles isn't a bad lifetime for the original one. But having it in Ted's closet sure beat ordering one and waiting. :)

There are a ton of places on the web that rebuild/repair these things. I'll go quote fishing on Monday. I wonder if they'll charge extra for the animal remains removal. :)
